"Alright give me a run-down of the plan again."
Ned and Rowan stand outside the high school, the girl taking the occasional selfie with gushing fans and once-overs from hormonal boys who couldn't fathom the fact Imperium could dress so beautifully.
"Okay, so-" Ned pulls out a piece of paper from his suit coat, earning him an annoyed groan from the girl, "first step: make our grand entrance. I'm talking big, bold, memorable. Step two: we find out target a-k-a 'spiderling'. Step three: I ask you to dance, making sure it's slow and we choose a spot where Peter can definitely see us. And step four: operation 'reunite the avengers' is complete."
"That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard-" a smile creeps up onto the youngest Stark's lips as she chuckles, "let's do it."
Prom isn't something Rowan has ever fantasized about. Mostly because she knew that it was just a silly excuse for hooking up and underage drinking; not that she's opposed to a good beer, but in a high school gym wasn't her ideal party location. So, as she enters the crowded complex, the immediate smell of old sweat and gym socks hitting her in the face, she knew this wasn't her cup of tea. But, sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the ones you love.
The girl cranes her neck for any sight of the boy, frowning at each identification mistake and sighing once she couldn't find him anywhere. She turns to Ned who was talking and bragging to a couple of people about his hot date, "I don't see him."
"I'm sure he's here somewhere." Whispers the chubby boy, "just look for short, muscular boys in a suit."
"Gee, that'll solve it-" grumbles Rowan sarcastically, rolling her eyes, "it's not like half of the school fits that description- oof-"
She was suddenly hit slightly in the back, causing the girl to stumble into Ned. Rowan begins to speak up her annoyance, mere seconds away from cursing out the people who didn't know their right from their left, before her voice became lodged in the back of her throat. It's like all the color had been drained from her face along with her sanity, the feeling of heartbreak shooting up her throat and out of her lips in a gasp. It's as if someone had punched her in the gut, knocked the wind out of her; it felt like she couldn't breathe. Her hands begin to tremble, her body displaying her nervous thoughts.
"Oh my goodness I'm so sorry, Imperium-" Liz gushes, "you look stunning, by the way. Are you here with Ned?"
Rowan could feel Peter's burning gaze on her body, his dark eyes soaking up her every inch as if she'd disappear any moment. The girl nods, "y-yeah. Uh, thank you. You look great, Liz."
"Thanks." Smiles the older girl, glancing over at Peter who looks as if he just saw a ghost, "you alright, Peter?"
"Y-yeah." The boy nods, "uh... dammit, I'm sorry, Liz, you don't deserve this." It was as if he were set on fire, the boy turning away from the group and sprinting in the other direction. Rowan'a wide gaze meets Ned's, confusion evident in her features as she slightly asks her friend for advice.
