I come back inside. Giggling. I found myself silly to be happy that Darren immediately used my gift. Also, the kiss. Thankfully, the lights in the balcony are so dim that Harry didn't see my blushing face. It makes me realize that I am probably getting tired of everyone's attitude towards me that a simple act like that could brighten my day.

Also my growing feeling towards Darren. I shake my heads.

I grab drinks. Two drinks. Walking inside, searching for Darren to give the drink to him.

People's eyes are on me when I walk past them as our entrance surely makes my presence known to those who haven't seen me. I just don't care. At that time, I felt like a silly boy looking for his crush.

The party feels even more crowded. It seems more people arrived late. The music is still on and there are still some people who dance. The rest are gathering, creating a smaller group and talk with each other.

After searching for a bit, I saw Darren in the middle of the room. Being the sole attention of people who surround him. Men, women, and several young ones. By their looks, I assume they are nobles.

"Lord Darren, let me introduce my daughter, Selena, to you," said a man with a slight bow, assisting her daughter to step front. A girl with shiny black hair comes approaching him and greet him elegantly. She looks shy but manages to give him a beautiful formal greeting.

And the switch is on.

The first man's words become a trigger for all other people who have the same intention. As soon as he finishes his word, the others follow. "I also have a son, Will, an Omega. Even Though he is a man, I assure you could bore many children for you," another man told Darren. "My daughter, Dorothy, also an Omega. She has long been admiring you. I hope you can meet her," said another one.

Oh wow. I didn't expect there would be a matchmaking today. I know this kingdom allows multiple marriages, especially if the second partner is an Omega in order to increase the probability of having a child. I never expect they would be so open like this.

"You should pick an Omega and have an heir, Darren," said Caleb who stood nearby. "What can you expect from that Beta of yours. Giving you a child? I doubt he can."

Why? Why does this topic always come up nowadays? Why does it look like getting an heir is the only thing that matters around?

I haven't decided whether I want to have a child on my own if my condition is treatable, but they have stepped out of the line. I know that they did this to gain favor for their own, but my bad thoughts say that it is one of their ways to insult me.

My mood drops as fast as it goes up. I have enough of this.

Darren notices my presence and looks at me, making the others follow his gaze. My heart hurts but I can still manage to give them a fake smile. "I need to take my leave. Please, enjoy the rest of the party," I said while bowing to them.

I shouldn't do that. Bowing to them. Not all of the people there have status higher than mine.

It's just a fast action that I unconsciously made. They didn't reply and I didn't expect one. I soon walk back and leave them.

I drank up both glasses of wine that was still on my hand. The strong liquor temporarily distracts my mind. I hand the empty glass to the first staff that I meet and fasten my walk. Some people glance at me when I pass them. Leaving the hall, stepping further inside the mansion.

I don't know why it affects me so much. Probably because now I learn about my condition? Seeing him getting approached by a more suitable partner tore my heart.

Why? Why do I feel like this? I don't love him. Why do I feel so disturbed? I shouldn't feel this way.

"Caden, wait!" a hand grabs my arms as Darren stops me. I look back with my usual straight face, hiding my hurt one. I can't stand this anymore. I feel so tired of keeping this persona. "You shouldn't be here," I said. I can feel a crack on the wall and I need to be alone to fix it.

"What's wrong with you?" he asked.

I scoff. What's wrong with me?

"Nothing," I lied. "I just feel tired and want to rest," half true.

We stay silent in that empty hall. No one has left the party this early. The main event has yet to come.

"You know, Caden, you've been acting strange since I came back last week. You space out a lot and you look like you have something to say," Darren said. "I'm asking you nicely now. Is there anything you want to say?"

I keep my silence, don't know how to answer that. I want to run away from there. Runaway from this place and live a new life. A life far away from people. Far for Darren before I develop more feelings for him.

"You should get yourself an Omega, Darren," I said, slowly looking at him.

Why did I say that?

Darren's face looks as confused as I am once I realize my words. He raised one of his eyebrows with a judging face. "What do you mean?"

I sighed. This situation has become the source of my headache these past few days. "You know, I probably can't give you any child. I have a condition... I might be infertile," I finally said.

I dropped the bomb. Now I'm waiting for his reaction.

We stay silent for a while. Darren still held my arms but I didn't look at him and just looked at the floor.

"Where did you get that information?" Darren finally said.

So he already knew?

"From a doctor in the town. She ran a health check and discovered my condition," I said. I don't feel any need to lie.

"What does she say? Did she know about the details? About your condition and how to treat it," he asked.

"Does that even matter?" I said, I looked up and stared at his eye. I feel betrayed, angry, and sad.

"Remind me why I'm here again? If you know about my condition, why don't you divorce me? Why don't you simply toss me away? I am replaceable," I confront him, feeling enough with all this bullshit.

I never see Darren looks taken back as he looks now. I don't care, at all.

"You are worth more than you think, Caden," Darren slowly said. "I know you have valuable skills in diverse fields. You can help me manage this Northern territory and improve the wellbeing of people here."

So, he really just wants to use me, huh? Taking advantage of knowing my secret.

"Is that why you stop having sex with me? 'Cause I've become worthless in that area?"
