I laid down in the back on the car breathing heavily.
This was it.
Our baby was coming.
Gus stayed hovered over me rubbing My stomach to keep me calm, he had said barely anything since we got in the car.
"You ok Gus?" I said and touched his hand.
"I'm amazing" he said and smiled, still looking at my stomach.
The contractions kept getting worst and worst and I couldn't help but moan in pain.
It felt like a sharp knife stabbing me.
"It's ok we are here just stay calm" Gus said and held my hand tight.
HOSPITAL ROOM
I had gotten something for the pain and it was almost time for our baby to get here.
Gus stayed right next to my bed looking around curiously at all the doctors and what they were doing.
I couldn't help but laugh cause Gus was more nervous than me.
"Gus come sit down before you pass out" his mom said and chuckled.
"You already know he's not gonna leave her side for the next 2 weeks" my mom said and giggled.
"I'm about to be a dad" he said and walked around in circles nervously
"And a very good one I'm sure" one of the nurses said and everyone nodded in agreement.
I suddenly felt a shock of pain and a kick and grunted loudly.
"It's go time everybody" the doctors said and gathered around me.
They got all the stuff ready and got me in the position to give birth.
They put my legs up and we're all telling me when to push and to take breaks.
The whole time Gus was standing right next to me squeezing my hand.
"1...2...3... PUSH" the nurses said and I pushed hard letting out a lound grunt.
Gus looked genuinely worried and confused but kept giving me reassurance.
"Awe there goes the top of her head" the nurse pointed and Gus walked around to look.
He gave a big grin and leaned in closer to see it.
"She got alot of hair" he said
Everyone in the room laughed.
"Ok another big push 1...2...3 PUSH" the nurses said and I pushed hard again feeling her slide out more.
"She's coming fast" the doctor said and started gently pulling her out a bit.
"keep pushing" the nurses said.
"She's almost here just two more ok" the nurse said and held my hand tightly.
I pushed hard two more times and next thing I know she's here and crying.
I looked up and saw Gus just staring at her in the nurses hands.
The doctor wiped her off and did everything else before putting her in a blanket and bringing her back over to us.
"Would you like to hold your daughter first?" The doctor said and walked over to Gus.
"Yes please" he said nervously
The doctor slowly handed her to Gus and I saw a small tear escape his eye.
He traced his finger along her face and hair before leaning down and giving her a kiss on her forehead.
"Hey girl" he said and smiled Big.
I tried to keep from crying.
I couldn't tell if I was emotional because of hormones or because of Gus.
I just knew I chose the BEST person to have my baby with.
"She's so beautiful" Gus mom said and both of my parents agreed.
I watched as they all greeted her.
Gus held her in his arms and walked to my bed.
"Here" he said and smiled at me.
I grabbed her and held her close, she was so beautiful.
She had a head full of hair and even tho she was just born you could tell she had his eyes.
I felt a tear run down my face as I held her close.
"She's gonna carry on the legacy" Gus said and gave me a big hug.
