Soobin was never a fan of open water.

He doesn't really like the idea of being close to it or getting into it. He swears you would never catch him dive willingly in that seemingly calm death trap.

Perhaps, he only thinks like that because he doesn't know how to swim; never really got the chance to learn since he was convinced he would easily drown.

People told him he won't have to worry about that because he's fortunately a kid with gifted height and the possibility of drowning is smaller compared to others because the water couldn't even reach his neck.

However, Soobin liked to argue that the taller he is, the more massive he'll be and he would sink down real fast before someone even notice he's there.

Soobin does not like open water.

So why is he casually chilling by the pool with someone he barely knows and acting like he and the pool are longtime friends?

"Do you want to get in?" Soobin was snapped out of his thoughts when Yeonjun raised his head away from resting on his shoulder. The black haired boy instantly felt incomplete once the action was done, but it all went away when he realized the other was staring at him with his feline bright eyes expectantly.

Hold on—what is he even thinking? He really should stop being like this.

Finding that Soobin is taking longer than required to answer the simple question, Yeonjun bumped their shoulders together and asked again. "Do you?" his eyebrow raised in an inquisitive manner.

"I don't know," Soobin finally answered but it wasn't quite the response Yeonjun was expecting to hear from him so the boy pursed his lips.

"Just answer me yes or no, Binnie. My question's pretty simple."

There it goes again.

The sudden pause of his heartbeat by the slip of nickname Yeonjun gave him yesterday. It isn't anything special. Soobin doesn't want it to be special but there's something about the way the nickname easily rolls out of the brunette's tongue that make him feel weird in a good way.

And something good always means something bad in one way or another, and Soobin doesn't want it.

Yet, he lets Yeonjun call him it, anyway.

Soobin chewed on his bottom lip before he decided there's no point in hiding away from the other boy so he averted his gaze away from those dark brown irises that are staring at him and muttered the words bashfully, "It's because I can't swim."

"You can't?" Yeonjun tilted his head slightly to the side, his bangs swaying along because of the movement. A suspecting grin slowly creeps its way onto his lips.

"Yes," Soobin replied, still not returning his gaze back on the other male but he could clearly feel those eyes boring through his skull and he cursed mentally. "I don't know how to swim. Now quit it."

There was a moment of silence. Almost as if the time stopped and Soobin could've been convinced it did if it wasn't because of Yeonjun's roaring laughter that resonated around the room. He swore he saw the water vibrates for a second due to the sound.

And maybe it really did, because Yeonjun's giggles could put anything into a hypnotic frenzy.

"Hey, stop laughing!" the dark haired rebuked, acting as if he'd just been extremely affronted although he doesn't really mind Yeonjun laughing at him.

"Sorry," Yeonjun mumbled after he had calmed down but the grin on his face implied that he wasn't really sorry at all. "It's just—you can't swim? You? Out of all people?"

"What can I do? What if I sink down and drow—"

His sentence was interrupted when Yeonjun began laughing again. Soobin sent him a playful glare. "I'm sorry!"

"Stop laughing at me!"

"I can't—you—you really think you would drown? The water can't even touch your head!"

"Oh yeah? But what if I get leg cramps or something? How do I stand after that?"

"That's why warm-ups exist, you idiot!"

"I'm too lazy for warm-ups!"

"Oh god," Yeonjun shakes his head, an amused smile still painted on his lips that Soobin couldn't help but smile too. "You're really something, Choi Soobin."

"What do you mean by that?" The dark haired narrowed his eyes in question. Gaze filled with wonder as it bores directly to the other boy in front of him.

Yeonjun only smiled in return, failing to satisfy the taller male's sprouting curiosity, much to Soobin's dismay.

Before Soobin could even press further into the matter, as if sensing the other male's upcoming demand, Yeonjun stood up from where they were seated by the edge of the pool. His feet creating a somewhat splashing sound when it rose away from the water.

He then looked down onto Soobin who's silently waiting for his next move with his head tilted upwards to face him. Yeonjun reached out his hand forward for the boy to take. However, instead of accepting it, Soobin furrowed his brows again and only stared at the palm held out on his face.

The brunette rolled his eyes at the latter's lost expression. Although, deep inside, he secretly adores the innocent puzzled look on the boy's undeniably charming features.

Yeonjun shakes his thoughts away.

"Are you not going to take it? Come on—let's do something else."

"But you said you want to—"

"It doesn't matter now that I know you can't swim." Yeonjun cut Soobin off and raised his brow, "So? Let's go!"

Knowing that he couldn't argue (and deny the fact), Soobin accepted Yeonjun's reaching out hand and stood up. The water from the pool trailing down his legs that they felt a little cold as the air hit them.

"Where are we going?" he asked the moment they reached the door out of the pool area; not noticing that their hands are still tightly clasped against one another.

"Back inside? Not like we can go out."

"I know that, Mr. Genius." Soobin clicked his tongue in false annoyance, "I mean, where to inside? What do we do now?"

Yeonjun stopped walking, causing Soobin to do the same and watch as the shorter male twirled to face him.

"What do you want to do?"

Soobin couldn't help but notice how the male asked this with his mouth unconsciously in a pout. He had to collect himself for a moment and shift his gaze elsewhere, unaware that his thoughts were being spoken out loud.

"I just want to spend time with you."

Soobin only realized he had answered when he saw Yeonjun smiling widely at him once he returned his gaze back on him. "Let's just be together then, Binnie!"

Soobin really has to get rid of this good feeling as soon as possible.

Or it's going to consume every single life left inside of him.
