When Song Jia woke up, she was lying on a canopied four-poster bed, draped in hangings of purple velvet.

It was so large and wide that a family of five could sleep in there and they still wouldn't be cramped for space. Several pillows surrounded her, so much that she almost drowned in it. Song Jia slowly lurched out of the bed and stared at her surroundings in a daze.

The last thing she remembered was the masked man's lips on her, kissing her so crazily that she fainted. Did he bring her back to his place?

The room was done in Romanesque-styled architecture, with thick walls and semi-circular arches. It was a high-ceilinged chamber, lavished in mahogany wainscotting. The fire in the hearth was dancing merrily, warming the room.

More importantly, except for her, the whole room was completely empty.

Song Jia walked towards the door and twisted the knob. Instead of a hallway, she entered a large sitting room, still with not a single person in sight. The sitting room was just as lavish as the bedchamber, with a six-branched gasolier hanging from the ceiling. It filled the room with weak light.

When Song Jia tried opening the door in the sitting room, she found that it was tightly locked.

"..."

What the hell? Did he lock her in here?

Song Jia ran back to the bedroom and opened one of the windows. She discovered that it was a long way down to the ground. She would still die even if she used her anti-gravity boots.

The masked man made sure that she had no way out.

And she couldn't even try to pick the lock, because the main door was latched from the outside.

"..."

Song Jia's expression couldn't even be described as ugly anymore.

...

Princess Bai Xue crossed her legs and stared down at the masked man kneeling before her.

His face was cold and indifferent as usual, but his eyes had a hint of happiness to them. She also noticed with some annoyance that he seemed restless, as if he couldn't wait to leave the room.

Her voice turned cold as ice as she said, "I refuse."

Xiang Feng became still.

Princess Bai Xue continued, "It's my birthday, yet you want me to grant you the permission to let a woman stay with you? Feng'er, where is your heart?"

Princess Bai Xue laughed, unaware of the bitterness in her own voice.

"I gave you the potion that would heal your scar. I killed the person who caused that horrible trauma from your childhood. I even gave you the potion that would allow you to recall the woman you kept seeing in your dreams. Yet, you want to repay me by spending your days with another woman? You did this, despite clearly knowing my feelings for you."

Princess Bai Xue slowly smiled, her blood-red lips revealing a trace of malice.

"Feng'er, I refuse. Even if you beg me a thousand times, I will not allow your heart to contain any other woman except me."

Xiang Feng's eyes were gloomy.

Slowly, he said in a low voice, "Xue, I'm not asking you, I'm informing you."

He stood up. His voice was as cold as hers, maybe even more so.

"If your assassins had touched even a single hair of hers tonight, rest assured, I wouldn't be here still talking to you."

It was a direct threat.

Princess Bai Xue's pupils shrank. "You could kill me for her?"

"I was in the middle of hunting when one of your assassins interrupted me."

Their relationship was based on trade.

To get the potion that increased the chances of seeing the woman in his dreams, Xiang Feng hunted her enemies. Once they were killed, Princess Bai Xue gave him the potion that he needed.

"One of them interrupted you?" she repeated.

It only took her a second to understand. Princess Bai Xue knew that when he was 'hunting,' not a single person should disturb him. The way Xiang Feng killed was often violent. And at the sight of blood, he would turn into a different kind of person. It was reasonable to say that all of her assassins were killed merely because they had been at the wrong place and at the wrong time.

Princess Bai Xue quickly connected the dots.

If her assassins were there, then that must have meant the foreign-looking woman was there too!

She looked at Xiang Feng in shock.

Incredulous, she asked in disbelief, "You didn't kill her?!"

She remembered the first time this disease of Xiang Feng's had showed itself. Her personal maidservant had been cutting apples for her in the dining room, and accidentally cut the pad of her thumb. It was only a single drop of blood, but his eyes turned red and he snapped the servant's neck before she even had time to blink.

Princess Bai Xue had to bar the doors to the dining room and run for her life. Before Xiang Feng recovered and returned back to his usual self, he had killed twenty servants, the seven knights that tried to detain him, and the head cook. The dining room had to be renovated because not even the best potion she had could siphon off the blood that soaked into the cracks between the floor's encaustic tiles.

It was the bloodiest and most violent carnage she had ever seen.

Princess Bai Xue knew that she only feared one thing in this world, and that was the complete ruthlessness of Xiang Feng's other personality. Not even her beauty or her power swayed its bloodthirstiness. It could be said that his only desire was to kill.

In front of his red eyes, nothing mattered more than seeing his hands spill blood.

That was why, the fact that Xiang Feng didn't kill that foreign-looking woman when his eyes were still red shocked her to the core.

Even in her past life, an incident like this never happened.

That was because Xiang Feng's bloodthirsty personality killed every living person he encountered, without fail.

If a person's attitude was the same to everyone, Princess Bai Xue would not take care of every thread in the cloth [1], but if he were to suddenly treat another person differently, then one couldn't help feeling greatly upset, especially if that person wasn't them.

She thought that her greatest rival was the woman in his dreams, turns out, it was that foreign-looking woman. Princess Bai Xue's face was ashen, her eyes filled with crazy jealousy.
