Warnings: the usual depressive and suicidal thoughts, angst (because we can't live without it), bouts of misplaced and rightful anger and miscommunication. If any of these triggers you, please don't read.

Author's Notes: Anyways, this chapter gave me the chills. And so is the next chapter. I won't spoil anything for you guys, but damn, the conversation that MingYu goes through next chapter will leave you hanging.

You might need to read Chapter 2 of MingYu: An Unseen Battle (on Ao3) to get a clear idea of a section of this fic.

The souls rejoiced at knowing that the one human who had accepted them, who brought more humans to live among them, was calling them. Was asking for them.

Naturally, they had to respond.

[That day, no-one but Wei MingYu noticed the numerous ghosts surrounding him as he absorbed the resentful energy within him. Burial Mounds did not like it when one of theirs suffered.]

Wei MingYu sighed, his shoulders sagging a little. Dealing with the Waterborne Abyss took every ounce of his concentration and energy. He was thankful for those souls that remembered him [but also harmed him when he'd firstno don't about it] coming to his aid.

Had it not been for them, then he'd fear undergoing through Cleansing to rid of the extra resentful energy [but no-one realized how much it hurt. His body was now saturated with resentful energy, becoming something like a skin to him. Purifying the resentful energy within him meant the same as killing him. When had he become such a monster?]

After all, there was a limit to how much he could contain. [A limit that had been exceeded in his future.]

At least, all those souls the Waterborne Abyss had consumed were now freed. Though, they'd put up quite a resistance, his mind overwhelmed with the onslaught of memories. He hated the fact that every time he commanded something with resentful energy, he could see moments leading to their death. Especially if it was of a humans. [He'd never asked for this, so why did he have to go through it? Was his life so accursed?]
