Jackson Bartholdy whistled a tune as he made breakfast for himself & his brothers' children. He was settling nicely into Riverdale. It hadn't changed that much since he was a teen. And now, he was going to make this the best last day of summer an Uncle could give.
The doorbell rang, causing Jackson to drop his happy tune. He set down the spatula and headed towards the front door, his apron still on. "What can I do for you?" He asked the young Serpent boy.
Sweet Pea looked Jackson over, remembering him, but was still confused as to who the man was. "Is Clemintine home?" The boy asked. His hands were tucked away in his jacket pockets.
"Yeah. One sec." Jackson moved to the spiral staircase, still in Sweet Pea's line of view. "Clem!" He called up the stairs. "Door!" He moved away from the door, going back to the kitchen.
Clemintine reached the bottom of the stairs and paused. "Can you not take a hint?" She scoffed.
"Hear me out, Sunny." Sweet Pea begged.
"You need to leave." She demanded. She began to close the door on him.
Sweet Pea blocked it from closing. "Please... I miss you."
"Don't do this, Sweet Pea." Clemintine whispered. "I can't keep getting my heart broken."
"I never meant to hurt you. Please believe me." Sweet Pea continued to plead. "I gave into my needs."
Clemintine opened the door wider, giving Sweet Pea a false sense of hope. Sweet Pea dropped his hand from the door. "You gave into what you wanted. You don't need to have sex."
"Clemintine, I'm so sorry, I never meant to hurt you." Clemintine could see the desperation in his eyes.
"Running with the turncoat's daughter is a slap in the face, remember?" She reminded him of the words he had said. "That's what you told Jughead."
Sweet Pea's brows furrowed. "You remember that? I barely remember."
"I never forgot it." Clemintine successfully closed the door this time.
Jackson watched his niece as he put the plates of food down on the table. "Everything okay?" He asked with caution. He didn't want to set her off. He knew how she could be sometimes.
"I hate him." She sighed as she sat down at the dining table.
"I get it." Jackson nodded in understanding. "Boys suck." Julian came down the stairs and sat down beside his sister. "What'd he do?" Jackson removed his apron.
"Who?" Julian asked with a mouthful of food. Jackson sat down, looking at Clemintine and waiting for an answer.
Clemintine poked at her bacon with her fork. "It's stupid." She sighed. She looked at Julian. She only felt comfortable telling him, since he knew her and Sweet Pea's history. "He slept with Josie. Multiple times."
Julian choked on his food, wheezing as he tried to breathe. "Holy shit." He coughed. He seemed to figure out who she was talking about. Julian turned to his Uncle. "They had a thing."
"Her and Josie?" Jackson smirked in a joking manner, raising his coffee mug to his lips.
"Josie tried screwing her ex when they were still dating." Julian explained.
"I see your predicament."
Julian put down his fork. "Yo, fuck Sweet Pea. You can do so much better."
"His name's Sweet Pea." Jackson laughed. "Anyone with a name like that, doesn't deserve your time. Like Julian said, you can do better."
