ok so you guys know that I'm all the rage with kEePiNg wItH tHe nEwS but seriously I have something important to talk about.

so we all love Canada right? Land of polite people and gentleness and passivity and no Canadians could ever do wrong because m a p l e  s y r u p ? yeah. well.

fuck that.

The Canadian gvn is trying to build a destructive pipeline through indigenous territory without the consent of the people.

They want to build this pipe line in an area rich with biodiversity. they want to unearth and destroy this land in order for their pipeline (coastal gaslink pipeline project) but it's worse than just serious eco damage.

This land belongs to indigenous people. The Wet'suwet'en territory is indigenous land.

And the people (there's five clans) have said NO.

And yet the pipe line still continues.

A lot of indigenous people (youths and all) have been peacefully protesting against this. Not only is this silencing of the current generations voices but also Canada has a history of being racist and unjust to its indigenous people. There's pictures and news articles showing indigenous youths being beaten and carried into prison. It's. Just. Not. Right.

The territory is of high importance to the indigenous people of the area. It's a site of spiritual, cultural and historical importance and it's not. right. that it's being destroyed.

Google it. Go. Google. It.

Because it's something no one is talking about but is important. It's like avatar come to life and it's not right. It's not ok.

so yeah, the Canada pipeline problem.

Spread awareness of this because building a pipeline through indigenous territory without consent from the people?

Not fucking cool.

(why do you care so much laurie? you're just a chavvy brit!  I care because it isn't right. and I don't believe in that. I'm not indigenous but I'm human. so as one human to many others, I feel great emotion and horror for these people. and that must count for something )
