Years passed. Constance was now sixteen and Jane twelve years old. The two girls were standing in front of a building, having both a backpack -a khaki one for Jane and a red one for Constance- and their dog at their feet. Jane had her hair combed back, wearing a black cotton jacket, a black tee-shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes. Constance was taller than Jane, wearing a red cap, a black and red jacket, a white tee-shirt, black jeans, and black shoes.
- "Do we really have to go school? I mean, we don't needed it before..." told Jane.
- "It's important, if you have your diploma, you can find a nice job with a good salary and not having problems anymore," answered the blonde teen with blue eyes.
- "I would prefer staying with you..."
- "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll make new friends."
- "I'm not sure..."
Constance put a comforting hand on her sister's shoulder before beginning to walk. Jane took a deep breath and followed her older sister. They went to the secretary to have more information. A random teen showed them quickly the place before explaining them how their schedules were working. The bell rang and the two girls separated to join their lockers. Jane was now alone, facing the piece of furniture in metal. She looked at her padlock, tried to open it, but failed. She sighed loudly with her mouth before trying again without succeeding.
- "You need a hand?"
Jane turned her head on her left and saw a redhead with freckles on her cheeks, a boy style, and a skateboard under her arm. Jane just frowned.
- "Show me. (takes the paper to look at the number and opened the locker) Here, it's hard at the beginning, but then...well...it's easier. I'm Max, by the way," smiled the redhead. "What about you?"
- "Jane."
- "You're shy, that's cute. Well, if you need anything, you know you can ask me, ok?"
Jane gulped with difficulties before nodding.
- "If you don't want to eat alone at lunch, me and my friends would be happy to have you with us, but you don't have to, you look more like the cool kids, and, well, we're not the cool kids...Anyway, welcome in hell!"
Max smiled widely to her before giving a friendly tap on Jane's shoulder and walking away. Jane felt uncomfortable, she didn't like being here; even if this girl seemed nice, the others were looking at her like if she was a monster. She took her books before slamming her locker and going away.
Constance was at her locker, taking her books, not really caring of the people around, until she noticed that the girl on her left was looking with insistence to her.
- "You know, if you want my number, you just need to ask!" joked Constance with a serious tone.
- "Oh, uh, sorry, it's just, I've never seen you around here."
- "I'm new, that's why."
- "You're always this warm with people?" mocked the blonde teen.
- "You're always this curious with people?"
- "Only with the weird ones."
Constance had an amused sigh before closing her locker and taking support on it to look at the other girl.
- "I'm Robin."
- "Constance."
- "Well, welcome! You'll see, this high school is not very different of the others, there are the cool guys, the nerds, the invisible, the bullies, the bullied, and more."
