Days passed and Abigail took some pleasure to annoy Jane if not humiliate her. They pushed her, made fall her books, threw foods and liquids on her, and, this morning, they put her in a bin in the hall. The brown head sent a message to her sister because she was stuck in this bin. The blonde teen arrived quickly and grabbed her sister by her arms to take her off this bin.
- "You really need to fight back! You can't let them treat you like that!"
- "They're just joking," told Jane, taking off a banana skin from her shoulder.
- "They're bullying you!"
- "They don't hurt me, it's ok. You wanna see my last drawing?" said happily the brown head, searching in her bag.
- "Latest, not last."
- "Yeah, latest drawing."
Jane found her paper and gave it to her sister who looked closely to it.
- "It's a marshmallow playing guitar and singing," explained Jane.
- "I see, it's cool," smiled Constance. "Why a marshmallow?"
- "Why not?"
- "Yeah, ok, good answer. It's very cute, I love this drawing!"
- "You can keep it if you want."
- "Yeah? I'll put it with the others. You're gonna be an amazing drawer when you're an adult."
- "Cool!"
Constance rubbed her sister's hair before kissing the top of her head. The two sisters separated, Jane with a big smile. She arrived at her locker and saw Max at hers.
- "Hey Max!"
- "Hey Jane, (sniffs) you smell like bin, is it normal?"
- "I meeted Abigail."
- "Oh no! What a bitch, I'm gonna kick her ass!" got angry the redhead.
- "No, it's fine, she is just having fun, it wasn't in a mean way."
- "Jane, she put you in a bin and you say it's fine!? It's not fine! It's intolerable! She has no right to treat you like that! You can't let that happen!"
- "...Are you mad at me?" asked Jane with a sad tone.
- "What? No, of course not, I can't be mad at you, I just don't like knowing you let them bully you like that, they want to humiliate you, I want you to understand that!"
- "I get it, but if I don't feel humiliated, they will maybe stop, because it won't work, no?"
Max frowned to think harder to something to answer, but what Jane said had a particular logic which she couldn't refute her. She hoped Abigail would stop but she doubted of it, this girl was too crazy to have limits. She grabbed her hand and took her to the girl bathroom to clean her up a bit.
- "You're my first friend who is a girl," stated Max, wiping Jane's tee-shirt with a wet tissue. "I've always had boys as friends, even when I was in California, but Billy scared them, so they stopped visiting me..."
- "Oh no, that's so mean," said Jane.
- "I can't blame them, Billy made everything to make them run away! Anyway, I'm glad he didn't do it here, it would have been hell."
- "I won't run away, even if Billy is mean."
Max had a weak smile but looked down. She heard this so many times that she wasn't believing it anymore, so many people left her because of her family that she had small hopes every time she was meeting someone new. When Jane met her entire family, she would abandon her, like everyone else.
- "I maked a drawing for you."
- "Really? Why?" asked Max with a surprised.
- "Because you're my friend," answered the brown head like if it was obvious.
- "You're my friend too, no, you're my best friend, what do you think?"
- "Yeah, totally! You're my best friend too!"
- "Cool!"
Jane put her bag on the sink and began to search inside, but Abigail entering the bathroom stopped her in her action.
- "Well, well, well, look who we've here! The kid hated by her family and her new girlfriend, Idiot the first!"
- "Leave us alone, asshole, we didn't ask you anything!" replied the redhead.
- "Shut up. (pushes her and walks between her and Jane) So, airhead, what do you have here!? You drew something for her? Aw, how cute it is," mocked the blonde girl.
- "Yeah, it's because she is my best friend," answered naively Jane.
- "Aw, Hated, you must be desperate to be friend with that!"
- "You didn't even take time to learn more about her!" told Max.
- "Oh yeah!? And you!? What do you know about her!? Hey, Idiot, how is your mother!?"
Jane shrugged, not really answering the question. Max frowned, not really understanding.
- "This is not your business, what don't you live your life and let us live ours!?"
- "I will. But not now."
The blonde girl took Jane's bag and emptied it in the toilet before flushing. Abigail left the bathroom with a proud smile while Jane and Max ran to the toilet, trying to save Jane's stuff. The brown head took her notebook of drawings, soaked with the papers disintegrated.
- "I'll have to do it again," sighed Jane.
- "I'm so sorry Jane, I never thought she would do that!"
- "It's ok, it's not your fault. But I didn't have time to give you your drawing."
- "Don't worry for me. Damn, your books are all ruined!" stated Max.
- "My sister will kill me."
- "I can explain her if you need, I don't want you to have problems because of this bitch!"
- "Max, calm down, you say lots of bad words!" told Jane with an amused tone.
- "Yeah, I know, you never cursed in your entire life?"
- "No, Constance don't want me to use bad word when nice words can be said."
- "Ok, I respect."
The two friends took Jane's stuff and put them on the sink to let them dry.
- "Can I ask you something?"
- "Of course," smiled Jane.
- "What happened to your mother?" asked Max.
- "Oh, nothing bad, she is at the hospital, but the doctors are saving her, she should be home soon."
- "Oh, ok, cool, I'm relieved."
The bell rang so the girls quickly put Jane's books and notebooks back in her bag, still soaked, wetting the bag. They tried to walk quickly but Jane's bag wetted the floor, and the brown head slipped on the floor, finishing on her belly.
- "Damn, I'm cursed!" joked Jane.
- "Are you ok?" asked Max, helping her to stand.
- "Yeah, yeah, Constance thinks I'm a black cat but just for me, so it's normal."
- "If it's just for you, it's fine then!"
The two girls chuckled before continuing their race. They arrived late in class but before the teacher. Jane looked closely at the damage. The books could be saved but her notebooks were completely ruined; she had to write what was inside again! It was already annoying the first time! She sighed with her mouth. Max gave her sheets of paper and a pen until Jane got new ones. The redhead was so mad at Abigail, she didn't know why she had to bully people like that, especially Jane who was the nicest person she ever met.
