"what the bloody hell did you think you were doing back there?" marcella stared at her cousin, a stoic expression resting on her face as he yelled at her. she had left class in a hurry, not wanting to throw a curse at the damned professor in a fit of anger. draco had apparently asked to be excused so he could find her, and now she was dealing with his outbursts.
"voldemort killed my mother, draco. your aunt if you have forgotten. i'm not going to let some toad-faced professor, if she can even be called that, call me a liar." draco flinched slightly, almost unnoticeable, at the sound of the dark lord's name. marcella still remained straight-faced, her eyes boring into his with anger boiling behind them.
"that was potter's fight, marcella! you should've stayed out of it and let him dig himself into a deeper hole. do you know what my father would say if he found out about this? he would have a bloody stroke. especially if he knew a malfoy was standing up for a gryffindor." marcella rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest.
"i wasn't standing up for harry. i was standing up for my mother. she would want everyone to know who killed her, so they could be ready for the war that is to come." draco held a finger up and grabbed her arm, pushing her around the corner away from listening ears. she ripped her arm away from his grip and sent him a cold glare. one that draco had never received from her before.
"i know voldemort is back. i've heard my father speak about him with his friends. but you cannot go around telling everyone that he's back. if he finds out, he will kill you, marcella. so just listen to me when i say this, stay out of trouble. next time you defend a gryffindor, i won't be so forgiving." she realized with a jolt that he was saying he wouldn't consider her family anymore if she continued on the way she did. it was also then that she realized why everyone hated her cousin; his pride was his main motivation for anything. he would rather disown his own family than for a second, believe that a gryffindor was right or worth defending. she scoffed at him, her eyes betraying how hurt she was.
"i have detention. i have to go." she made her way through the halls, trying to remember where umbridge's office was. her eyes watered slightly, thinking about her argument with draco. he was her only family and she couldn't lose him. so if he wanted her to sit back and keep her mouth shut, she would do it. it was her life and her relationship with her cousin on the line.
she finally reached the door that led to professor umbridge's office. taking a deep breath, she knocked quietly. a high-pitched "come in" was heard and she slowly opened the door, coming face-to-face with a bright pink room. portraits of cats meowed on the walls and marcella's lip twitched in discomfort. harry potter sat at the desk already, the two of them making eye contact quickly.
"do sit, dear." marcella closed the door and made her way to sit beside potter. on the desk laid a quill that she had never seen before, and a piece of paper.
