Alveera's POV:

In the evening finally, everything was settled and the courtyard was looking amazing. Of course, I was the supervisor. I wore a golden and yellow lehenga and did a bit of makeup.

Almost everyone complimented me. Sarif wore a yellow kurta and white pyjama and he looked cute. He was my favourite cousin and was a year younger than me, he was my best friend and the only person I trusted.

"You are looking hot sis", he said.

I raised a brow at him and said, "Is this the way someone compliments his sister?"

"I can't help and I won't be surprised if Xanir compliments you too."

"He won't", I said rolling my eyes, "By the way where is he?"

"Talk of the devil and the devil appears", he said gesturing towards the stairs and I saw Xanir coming down in a plain white shirt and dark blue jeans, the odd one out. But one thing that struck me was that he looked tense. And me being a very curious person couldn't control myself from asking him the reason, so he was using his phone while leaning against a wall and I walked up to him.

"So", I said and he lifted his head and looked at me for a moment and again started using his phone, "Didn't you get selected in the squad for the upcoming series against New Zealand?"

He looked exasperated and said, "Why won't they select me Alveera, I am the captain." The way he said indicated that he was very serious and was not in a mood to argue with me. And I thought that it would be better to leave him alone.

The rest of the evening I enjoyed myself a lot and late that night as all the guests went away, I changed into my night suit and was sitting on the stairs staring at the stars. It was my habit. After some time I heard one of the room's doors open on the terrace and Xanir came and sat next to me. None of us said anything, it was a comfortable silence.

After a few minutes, Xanir said, "Are you still studying?"

"No, I am a cricket journalist."

"Oh." After a pause, he said again, "What made you love cricket so much Alveera?"

I smiled and replied simply, "Evin George." He was the former Australian captain, Xanir also played under his captaincy, "As a teenager, I had a crush on him and then I fell in love with cricket also."

He just nodded and asked again, "Any boyfriend?" That question just ruined my mood and I said, "Nah, I don't believe in relationships, it is a nuisance. I mean if you really love someone then you should marry that person. What about you, why don't you have any girlfriend?" Yes, he was the only person in his whole team who didn't have a girlfriend

"Not interested." And I looked at him weirdly and raised a brow at him.

"What, why are you giving me that look?"

"Don't tell me Xanir, I see you flirting with so many girls and now you are saying that you are not interested."

"Flirting is different", he said leaning back a bit, "I just do it for fun, but being seriously interested in a girl is not my game."

That was our first sensible conversation without any arguments and I really liked it. And there was something common in between us.

The next morning my peaceful sleep was once again destroyed by my boss.

"Hello, Miss Ehmaan, I hope you are not sleeping."

"Of course not sir", I said immediately getting up.

"Good, I hope that you have not forgotten about that offer."

"I promise to give you an answer by tomorrow afternoon."

"You better do that", and he hunged up the call, why is he always in such a hurry?

I was very happy with the offer but there was one problem, my parents allowed me earlier for going to different cities in India but I knew it that they won't allow me to go to Australia alone, cause they don't trust me a bit. For God's sake, I was going to be 24.

Now as I had already told my boss that I will give him an answer by tomorrow, I had to find a solution as quickly as possible. Though he won't scold me for saying 'no' but I didn't want to refuse this offer.

My mom got surprised seeing me awake so early, and after taking my breakfast I sat down at the dining table and Xanir was already present there reading a newspaper.

"Hi", I said and he just nodded coldly.

"Do you have any superpowers?", I asked.

"What?", he looked at me confusingly.

"Well, reading a newspaper upside down isn't easy unless one has some superpowers", I said trying my best to suppress my laugh. I don't know what he was thinking that he didn't even realise that he was reading it upside down. The moment he realised what I meant, he immediately folded it and went away embarrassed and I burst into laughter.

Xanir's POV:

I was going mad, the annual award function was just around 20 days away and the management called me yesterday evening saying that it was necessary fo me to bring a date along. What The Hell. Never before there were such rules that it was mandatory to bring a date and now they were pressurising me. I never liked taking a date with me and I don't even have a girlfriend, how am I going to find a date. I thought that maybe Drake(my best mate and also my teammate)might somehow help me so I called him. I was standing on the terrace and was looking down at the courtyard.

"What's so difficult in picking up a date?", he said.

"I just can't randomly pick someone as my date."

"Come on, it's not that, that any girl that you will pick and your parents will make you marry her, it's just a matter of few days Xanir."

"A miracle is not going to happen that a girl will go past me and I will feel that yes she will be my date." As I said that I saw Alveera in the courtyard and a superb I got a superb idea.

"Hello...Xanir are you there?", Drake said.

"I got it", I shouted.

"You got what?"

"I found the date."

"Wait, what!?", he shouted in disbelief, "So quickly? Who is she?"

"I'll call you later Drake, bye", and I almost punched the air in happiness.
