"Carl, get back here!" I scream as he runs down the school corridor holding the shiny, diamond ring high above his head and calling out to the world of my engagement.
"Elena and Caleb! Breaking news! They're engaged!" Kids laugh as he runs by, pointing and repeating his statement. I'm running after him wanting to just about die, but I can't help but laugh anyway. It's not a real engagement ring, just a promise ring, but Carl doesn't seem to care about the difference.
As I follow him out into the cool outdoor air, I take a deep breath, and can't help but feel as if my life has just began. And right now, I can tell, it's sure to be something beautiful.
