(Your P.O.V.)
Walking on the marbled tiles of a massive mall, I noted how several people stared at the mercenaries, and whispered amongst themselves as we passed by. What were they saying? Probably they were asking each other why the men were cladded in red, or why one of them was wearing a fire-retardant suit. Despite all of that, however, no one seemed suspicious of the mercenaries' true identities. Even along the way, I observed multiple ladies developing a crush on Spy. I mean, his polished looks or his classy taste in fashion would totally make them swoon anytime now.
Turning at a corner, I scanned around my surroundings until a certain store caught my attention. Looking at its products through the display windows, I called the nine men to come over.
"Hey guys!" I pointed to the shop. "Let's try finding something there!"
"Zhat one?" Spy questioned as he examined the place. "The one zhat sells casual clothing and...toys?"
"Yep. Well, you guys gotta start wearing casual since you can't be in uniforms all the time." I explained. "Also, that store's well known for selling merchandise from popular games like yours. However, the TF2 stuff sells really quickly that they have to keep restocking each week. I thought that if we're lucky enough, it would be interesting for you guys to see some TF2 collectibles. So it may be a great idea to start from there."
"I see," the Frenchman continued, "but do you know any place that sells suits like mine?"
"Yep. This mall has everything, so we can stop by another shop after this."
As we all entered the double glass doors before us, the men were fascinated to see what the store had to offer. Neatly organized, the shop was divided by the women's and men's sections. Both sides had a lot of trendy clothing ranging from ladies' summer dresses to white jeans and from guys' chino shorts to striped tees, and even had shelves full of bright sneakers and other various footwear perfect for the warm weather. The mercenaries couldn't help but point out how today's fashion was different from that of the 60's.
"Whoa...take a look at this!" Scout pulled out a printed red t-shirt he found, and showed it for everyone to see. The rest of the men and I laughed since the words on the shirt stated "You suck!"
"That funny shirt is perfect for you, Scout." I commented. "Even perfect when you're taking down the BLU's."
"Exactly!" The Bostonian boy agreed. "I can imagine the looks on their stupid faces when they see this!"
As everyone else was looking for suitable clothes, Pyro was looking at the collectible section that consisted of not only gaming t-shirts but also action figures, keychains, and plushies as well. Examining the merchandise one by one, the fire-loving mercenary picked up a certain box with excitement and ran up to me.
"Hey (Y/N)!" He was holding a clear plastic case containing a figurine in front of me. "I found a toy version of myself!"
"Oh really?" I looked at an action figure of a RED Pyro holding a flamethrower. "It looks like they brought in new stocks of TF2 merchandise. I tried to get any of them, but they keep disappearing from shelves. Did you find any more of these, Pyro?"
The unmasked mercenary nodded and immediately went back to the collectible section. A few minutes later, he came back with shopping baskets full of not only just figurines, but also plushies and keychains of each mercenary. I assumed that he got all of that stuff for the other eight men.
"Whoa Pyro!" I looked at all of the cart's contents. "I can't wait for the other guys to see these!"
"Yep," the fire-obsessed man nodded, "but that's not all..."
"Huh?"
I gave Pyro a confused look. Just as I was about to ask him something, the ginger-haired man pulled out something from behind and held it in front of me.
"For you."
What he held out was a plushie version of himself. The stuffed toy's features of a big head and little body made it look so adorable. I smiled as I gently took it and hugged it.
"Aww Pyro. It's so cute." I hugged the fire mercenary as I held the plushie in my hand.
"It really is," the green-eyed man returned the hug, "but I think you're the cutest, my little firefly."
My face quickly turned pink like cotton candy as I heard my new nickname from him. Pyro seemed to notice it, but continued hugging me as he stroked my (H/C) hair. Meanwhile, the other eight mercenaries already picked enough clothes when they caught me still enveloped in the olive-eyed man's embrace without my knowledge. As they witnessed that, the eight men grew very envious that the unmasked Pyro got to be that close to me. However, they remembered not to fight over me and decided to avoid more arguments and drama to enjoy the rest of the day. One of them cleared his throat to get the attention from Pyro and me.
"I assume zhat you two got everything you need?" Spy asked as the fire mercenary and I broke away from the hug.
"Oh yes," I answered, "and take a look at these stuff that Pyro pulled out! It's for you all!"
The redhead and I showed the baskets as the eight mercenaries walked over to check them out. They couldn't imagine that they, as video game characters, would be so popular that someone would make merchandise based on them.
"These are so cool!" Scout picked up a figurine of himself holding a scattergun.
"Bloody hell..." Sniper removed his aviators while examining his plushie-self.
"Heavy likes this tiny Heavy!" The Russian was fascinated by a small plush keychain of himself holding a minigun.
I smiled at the men as they seemed to really like the TF2 collectibles of themselves. A few minutes later, we got out after paying at a checkout counter. As the men and I were carrying shopping bags, we looked at a nearby directory and scanned for any suit shop since Spy needed to change out of his current one.
"Alright. So it's on the third floor next to the food court." I pointed to a location on the map.
"The food court?" The Bostonian boy looked at me. "You mean there's tons of food places to eat at?"
"Various kinds to try, Scout." I replied. "They even sell fried chicken too."
"Fried chicken?! WOOHOO!" The young mercenary excitedly rushed to the direction of the food court.
"Hey Scout! Wait up, you city boy!"
Engie yelled as he and the other mercenaries ran to catch up with the Bostonian, leaving Spy and me behind. As the men disappeared into the crowd, the Frenchman moved closer to me.
"Well zhen, shall we proceed to the shop, ma chérie?" Spy asked as he held out his gloved hand. "We will join the others after zhat."
Knowing that the food can wait, I nodded and gently took his hand. Once I did, Spy lifted up my hand and softly planted a kiss on it, making me blush pink like a rose. As he noticed it, he chuckled and led me into the crowd with his hand still holding mine. Throughout the walk, I tried to hide my blushing face as I earned stares from other people walking by. Just as Spy and I were about to reach the tiled staircase, a random guy accidentally bumped into me. I was about to fall backwards until Spy swiftly caught me with his arms, preventing me from hitting the marbled floor. While holding me, the French mercenary looked at a young man.
"Sir! Please watch where you're going!" Spy scowled at a stranger.
"I'm so sorry! It was an accident!" The man apologized before looking at me. "Miss, I'm truly sorry about that!"
"Oh no worries. It's alright--" I stopped to get a better look at the guy who bumped into me. In a few seconds, I developed a fearful look as I recognized him. He was my abusive ex.
