I Am Gasoline

Only ignited by your fire.
I hope it doesn’t mean
That you’re my heart’s desire.

You’re second rate,
You aggravate,
You do it all.
From alienate
To congregate,
I try not to fall.

Like a phoenix
Born out of ashes
Only to burn down again.

A word, a laugh, a grin, a smile,
Never in my direction.

The pain, the hurt, the tears, the scars,
An awful reflection.

Matches of your brand,
Sparks of parts of you.
To light me up where I stand,
There’s nothing you have to do.

Your feelings, counterfeit.
My own, indefinite.

Your touch, imaginary.
My lust, extraordinary.

Giving up is long overdue
Since you’re gone, respawned, and carried on.
But what’s left of me is what’s left you.
I must hold on, wait upon, this phenomenon.

I am gasoline waiting to burn an eternal flame.
