Chapter 22: Sensible

For a while now, I haven't been visiting the city hall.

Since the basic first aid I did for the mother and child went 'viral', there were a lot of interviews that requested me to appear and I accepted most of them. Aside from that, I've been using this time off to actually improve my cooking...

I sighed as I remembered how I ambitiously said that to Lennox. Cook, really?

I asked Millen Yu's parents to hire a private cooking instructor for me and with how spoiled Millen is and the recent viral thing that I caused, they immediately got me one the next day.

And it wasn't just any cooking teacher, but a famous celebrity chef who even participated in a lot of international cooking competitions. I can't help but feel honoured to be taught by such a person. I also couldn't believe that there would be a day like today, where I'd learn how to cook just to impress a guy.

"Well done, Millen! You're improving. If I were to rate this one, I'd rate it as 2.5/5." Chef Dantes remarked.

I smiled sheepishly at his remark.

"Thank you! I've learned a lot from you even though it's just been a few days." I said honestly.

"Don't worry about it. I'm childhood friends with your dad. I could only do this much." he replied.

After cooking and preparing more dishes, Chef Dantes left and I decided to use the time to casually watch TV in the massive living room. I'm in the main mansion today and as usual, everyone wasn't in the house. However, we've all agreed to meet at dinner time because they were all looking forward to the dishes that I cooked.

After watching mindlessly for a while, my attention stuck to the television more when I heard Millen Yu's name. I stared at it for a few more seconds before realising that it was an interview I did for a high-rated magazine show. I got interested more since this is probably the biggest interview I did, even giving them a glimpse at my life as a volunteer in La Coron City.

Rather than to show the 'goodwill' than I'm doing, I enthusiastically agreed to the idea of them shooting there to showcase the progress Lennox have done in the city hall and also to give the city more media exposure. Tsk, tsk. I'm already doing so much effort but I don't think he even realises it...

The show showcased the viral video first and then showed the situation of the mother and child right now. Several sponsors have apparently donated to them and they're thankful to everyone who have helped them. Specifically, they have also mentioned Lennox and I.

"Miss Yu, Mayor Lennox, thank you so much for the help you have given us from the very beginning. I hope there would be good karma for both of you and with the help you have given us, we are determined to live a good life despite what happened." the mother said sincerely with teary eyes.

My heart melted a bit at her speech and my lips curled upwards, touched at what she said. What I did wasn't even much but it was appreciated to this extent... it's no wonder one's heart would be softened.

After the mother and child, the program premiered an interview of Zeus Costales, Millen's grandfather.

"Senate President, how do you feel that your granddaughter have been doing such an incredible goodwill? Were you aware that she was a volunteer at La Coron City?" the program host asked.

Although Zeus Costales rarely smiled genuinely in interviews since he is always polite and serious, I could see that he couldn't suppress the happy feeling he felt upon hearing my achievements as Millen. Unconsciously, I am also touched since I've never had a grandfather in my original life.

"Of course, I am! Who wouldn't, right? My granddaughter is so pretty, smart and kind. She's the jewel in our family. I didn't know that she was volunteering and only found out after that accident, actually. I was upset at first because I was scared she'd be implicated in politics but you know what, I'm just going to support whatever she wants to do. I trust my granddaughter and I really can't believe that she's already the incredible young lady she is today." he said in a proud manner.

Wow! Grandpa...

With Zeus Costales' happy expression, even the host couldn't help but smile as he asked more general questions.

After Zeus' interview, it was finally my scene that was played. It was a bit boring for me since I already know the content that was played but I couldn't help but have a sense of fulfillment upon seeing my face on the television.

These days, I am really losing track of time and feeling myself more as Millen Yu. There wasn't even days anymore where I'd get surprised at my own reflection at the mirror or instances where I wouldn't turn around when I heard her name and honestly, it is scary.

After my scenes have finished playing, I thought the program would end and say its ending remarks already but surprisingly, Lennox's face appeared on screen.

Lennox!?

I couldn't even follow up but I could faintly guess that he was just asked about my situation in the city hall.

"She's very young, but she's sensible and knows what she's doing. Our city is fortunate to have someone as benevolent as Miss Millen." Lennox answered shortly.

My lips unconsciously curved up at his answer and I raised my eyebrows at 'she's very young'. In my original life, I would be roughly the same age as Lennox already so for me, it's kind of ironic for him to say that.

But all in all, my heart is satisfied with his answer. I could feel that all I need is a little push and I'll finally conquer him!
