Chapter 101: Levi, One Shoot to Victory

                I was having a bit of trouble with my shooting. I couldn't seem to get my ball in the hops.

"Maybe I can help with that" Rattle Snake, my guardian, said with a smirk on his face.

He took out his red pistol and aimed it at the hop. In one shot, he was able to break the hop. Well, that is not what I wanted to do really, but whatever. I honestly understand why Nina and the rest of the Dreamers decided to give me a guardian, but I just feel so out of place with having one. Then again, this whole school is supposed to be a secret from everyone.

"Well, why don't we take your mind off this sport. Let's go to my word for a bit" he suggested.

I don't have any assignments due at the moment. I nodded my head as Rattle Snake shook his tail to make a pathway appear before us. We both jumped through and landed in some kind of desert realm. Actually, this reminds me of those old cowboy movies my father used to watch when he was a kid.

"Welcome to my humble home" he said with a smile as he slithered into town.

Well, the area wasn't exactly like an old western town. Some of Rattle Snake's friends had stone houses or ones made of brick. I honestly didn't know what to expect from his home. It seems so dusty too.

"Well, what would like to do here?" he asked me with a smile.

What would I like to do? Hm. What can I not do in my world that I can in his? I can shoot a gun here. That's a start. I hope it is similar to laser tag and paintball shooting.

"Can I try your gun?" I asked him with a shrug.

"Sure! Let's get out of the town though. I don't want you to shoot the gun and nearly hit someone" Rattle Snake said with a grin.

We went into the outskirts of the small town as Rattle Snake checked his pistol to make sure it looked ready. He then handed me the gun.

"Ok, are you ready?" he asked with a grin.

I nodded my head as I then carefully raised the gun. I aimed it at the cans on the ground and then fired. I didn't expect the recoil though. I stumbled backwards and hit the ground, hard.

"Whoops! You ok?" Rattle Snake asked as he looked at me.

"I've been better" I admitted as I stared at the deep blue sky in awe.

Well, at least the sky still looks the same. Rattle Snake then helped me up with his tail. He used his tail to dust me off. Then, we saw a purple dragon and green dragon flying over our heads.

"Oh, is it their time already?" Rattle Snake asked himself with a grin, "Hey! Flashwings! Is it time?"

The two dragons stopped flying and landed in front of us.

"Hey Rattle! Nah! We aren't here to shed our skin. We were going to see the crystal! Oh, is this your kid?" the purple Flashwing asked as she closed her wings.

I have a lot of questions about what she said, but I decided to ask after those two and Rattle Snake were finished with their conversation. I didn't want to brother them. Once their conversation was over, the two dragons flew away towards the sun. Rattle Snake then turned his attention back to me.

"Oh, sorry about that. The Flashwings tend to be chatty at times. So, do you want to work on your shooting?" he asked with a grin.

"What are you talking about with their skin? What's the crystal?" I asked him instead.

Rattle Snake seemed surprised about this. He just nodded his head.

"Well, sometimes dragons come out in the desert to shed their skins. As for the crystal, well, that is a sacred treasure among us who live here. Each realm is support by an elemental crystal. This crystal helps our realm have life. Do you want to see it?" Rattle Snake asked with a grin.

"Sure. Do you often see it?" I asked him as he led the way to the crystal.

"Oh, I try to see the crystal at least once a day. It is good to see it" Rattle Snake said, "Without it, we wouldn't be here and have a place to call home"

I nodded my head as we approached a sandstorm.

"Oh, right! You're human. Close your eyes and hold onto my tail" Rattle Snake said calmly as he waved his tail in front of my face.

I took his scaly tail in my hand. We walked forward slowly as the sand began to nip at us. We continued to walk forward for what felt like hours. We had to walk slowly too considering I was blind at the moment.

"We're almost there! It is a good thing we did build a temple around the crystal for others who can't withstand the sandstorm" Rattle Snake said with a grin as we continued to walk forward.

I felt my feet sink into the sandy ground until I stepped onto a stone floor. This must be the temple. We continued to walk forward until Rattle Snake greeted someone. Then we stopped moving.

"We are here! You might want to rub your eyes before opening them. Don't worry. The crystal isn't going anywhere" Rattle Snake said as he gently pulled his tail out of my hand.

I slowly rubbed my eyes to remove any sand near my eyes and face. I blinked a few times to make sure the sand was really out of my face. Then, I fully opened my eyes to see a brown crystal floating in the center of the temple. The Flashwing sisters were here in the temple and chatting as their eyes did drift towards the crystal from time to time.

"Woah" I said in awe at how strong the crystal looked.

"Yep! Isn't she a beauty?" Rattle Snake chuckled, "Out of every treasure I have seen or taken, that is the most beautiful treasure I have ever seen"

I could see why. It is so nice and beautiful to see the crystal. Actually, I feel like someone is inside that crystal or like some kind of powerful force is there. I don't know why, but the crystal is giving me strong vibes of power.

"You can touch if you want" Rattle Snake said with a grin, "Most of us touch the crystal to give us some kind of good luck or hope for an upcoming event that is important to us"

I was kind of surprised. This crystal seems so important. I don't know if it is ok for them to leave the crystal unguard and out for others to touch it for some kind of good luck and hope. Well, I am here. Might as well touch it for some kind of good luck. Who knows, maybe I will have some kind of good luck. I gently placed my hand on the crystal. I felt a strong wave of power flow through me. It felt so strong yet defensive as well. What kind of crystal is this?!

"Alright, that's enough" Rattle Snake said as he pulled me out of my thoughts.

I pulled my hand back from the crystal and then looked up at my guardian. He seemed pretty happy.

"Now, let's get you home. We don't want to keep you here too long" Rattle Snake said he opened the way back to my room at the school.

With that, I laid on my bed and looked at the hoop in my room. Rattle Snake went to get some water from the fridge from my room. I picked up a small basketball and then threw it at the hoop. The small ball went through the hoop! Alright! Rattle Snake then returned with two bottles of water.

"You've got it. I knew it" he said with a smirk as he opened a bottle and drank it.

I just smiled back at him. Maybe he only took me to his world to just relax and see the crystal. I am grateful for someone to be there for me and look out for me. It is a nice feeling to have a close partner who's ready to help me whenever I am down. I hope I can be like for my classmates and friends here as well.
