you flipped through photo album upon photo album of baby pictures and young family photos [grasping for a sense of reality, a sense of normality, something familiar], the two of us curled up on your couch, your mom's homemade quilt wrapped tightly around us. this moment almost felt like time was standing still [the two of us, together] with the setting sun casting orangey shadows of lashes upon your blossoming cheeks [giving you a glow of angels' feathers shadowed on your face], my fingertips aching to push the strands of hair stuck on your glossed lips behind your ear, and my mind focused on the tears trailing slowly down your face [my lips begging to kiss the salty drops away]. time hasn't felt real for some time now [like even if i looked in the mirror i wouldn't see my own reflection] but right her with you [while you beg for the same thing i've been without for some time now] i feel even more ground than i've ever felt before [like i could take on the world, if only you kept my hand close to your beating heart].
