Chapter 41: Comfort

Ryzen POV

Lennox let out a heavy sigh.

Right now, we were inside a mini van. It was break time for the relief mission today and we decided to just stay inside so we can have privacy.

Today, some people from the media came uninvited to our relief mission and did an ambush interview with Lennox.

As expected, they asked about his reaction regarding the trolls attacking him and the national government rejecting his initiative to tackle the typhoon problem.

I watched from afar and Lennox gave a very professional answer. However, unlike before, he was more serious than usual and the politician smile he'd always put on was not even visible.

I don't know if the media people were still around, but I hope they're not anymore.

"It's frustrating." he said in a low voice.

I turned to him and saw a distressed expression on his face.

My heart gloomed for him... he really had it tough for the past days, hmm?

"They keep on opposing me, but I am not even old enough yet to run for a position in the national government. It's-" he continued.

But since I could not take how wounded his tone was anymore, I pulled him in a tight embrace.

Lennox seemed to be surprised by my sudden move so he did not respond right away. He let out a relieved sigh before hugging me back. He rested his head on my shoulder and nuzzled my hair.

Holding him tightly like this, I could really smell his scent. As always, he smells so good and fresh. If I could, I would embrace him forever. I really like his scent.

"It's okay... you're doing your best. You're doing a good job. Your efforts and sacrifices are worth it." I murmured softly.

It is true. Even though there are obviously fake and generated trolls out in social media to insult him, there are more netizens who defend him. In fact, it seems like he has only gotten more popular with the bashing they tried to throw at him.

Instead of believing the allegations, the people were smart enough to know that they were all lies. They defended Lennox and even started to condemn the national government for not allowing the solution he proposed.

I patted him on his back softly, wanting to comfort him more.

Right now, I actually feel flattered that Lennox opened up to me. I feel hurt upon seeing how hard people try to suppress him.

I really feel like I'm somehow in pain as well when I see him this upset.

But... I know this is just a minor setback. Lennox is as strong as a lion. He'll only take a minute or two to lick his wounds and afterwards, he'll be okay and still as strong.

I'm quite sure that he will be able to find solutions in order to solve the crisis, especially since he's surrounded by an amazing team. I know his political advisors and staff. From what I've observed, they are efficient and like-minded individuals who can keep up with Lennox's vision.

Suddenly, Lennox removed himself from our embrace.

He then held the back of my neck and started to kiss me fiercely.

I followed the movements of his tongue as it deeply fondled every corner of my mouth. His hot tongue wrapped around my tongue, drawing me in.

The frenzied kiss continued for a long time. But as it went longer, the deep kisses turned into soft, gentle kisses.

Looking at my swollen lips, Lennox licked his lips.

"Thanks..." he said in his deep voice.

"Mmm. No problem." I said shyly.

I was still somewhat overwhelmed by his sudden kiss, okay! Amused at my reaction, he laughed softly and kissed my forehead.

Inwardly, I feel relieved. I'm glad that his face brightened up. For the past days, I know he hasn't been sleeping that well. I can clearly tell just from the eye bags under his eyes.

However, even if he did have those, it still could not hinder the attractiveness that his face possessed. Lennox still looked very handsome.

"Hmm... do you wanna sleep for a while? I'm willing to lend you my lap for rent. It's very expensive and this is a once in a lifetime offer, so you better take it." I said in a teasing voice.

Again, he just let a low laugh as he looked at me amusingly.

I pouted at his reaction.

"Really, take a short nap first. I'll wake you up when the break is over. You can rest here and be safe, I'm here..." I said gently.

From his expression, I could tell that he was a bit surprised and touched at the same time.

"Mmm. Fine." he replied.

Immediately, he rested his head on my lap.

It would have been better if Lennox could lay down his legs on the car's chair, but the mini van had limited space. Besides, if he really were to do that, it would be too squished since he had such long legs.

Gently, I rubbed his hair. It's soft and nice. How do I explain it? It's quite cute. I like rubbing his hair.

Somehow, just like this, it feels very comforting. It feels soothing just to be with him.
