Beth hurried through the brisk fall afternoon on her was home from school.

She was unsure why, but despite the weather allowing her to wear her favorite long-sleeve sweater once more, she was apprehensive.

Her parents had assured her that they had good news when they had called her at lunchtime, and there hadn't been even the smallest hint of uncertainty or caution. She should be able to believe them as easily as she always did. But for some reason her other sense was tingling and telling her very clearly that something was wrong.

Beth considered herself fairly normal. She was just over average height, fairly fit, and she'd been told by a few people that she was pretty. She got mainly A's and B's throughout school and had a few friends. She was hardly the most popular girl in school, but she wasn't bullied either... Much.

She arrived home a little sooner than normal and got her key out.

Unlocking the door easily she stepped in and called out cheerfully "I'm home!"

"We're up here Beth!" her mother's voice rang down from the second story of their cozy home.

That was when she saw the sheets covering the furniture and the boxes of knick-knacks carefully packed.

She picked her way through the small maze, her apprehension growing as she made her way to the stairs and her room, were her mother's voice had come from.

Sure enough, Beth entered her rom and saw that the majority of her things were already packed.

"Mom? Dad?"

"Surprise honey!" her Dad hugged her and her three younger siblings danced around her cheering.

"What's going on?"

"We're moving to Scotland!"

Beth found herself staring up at their new "house."

House??? This place was an entire CASTLE.

Beth and her siblings Maya, Brandon, and TJ gaped up at the huge structure.

"We're living here???" Maya gasped.

"I'll race you up!" TJ challenged Brandon as he sprinted off to claim a head start.

"NO FAIR!" Brandom ran after TJ, desperately trying to catch up to his smaller, faster brother.

"C'mon, my legs are shorter than yours and I'm beating you!!"

"You cheated!"

Beth and Maya walked together, their parents walking ahead to keep their brothers in sight.
