"cry, my dear, but do not bleed"
— A L E X A N D E R —

After getting caught being outside around 1 am, Lily and Sage spilt off from the group to avoid getting in trouble. But they couldn't help but burst into giggles when the four boys found themselves back in the commons area 20 minutes later. Remus and Peter gave them mocking glares but couldn't help but laugh. They never understood how Sage was so quick to find herself a way out of trouble. But Sirius and James, they started almost a game.

Both Sage and Lily knew their partners weren't actually mad at them, just trying to get a reaction. The boys stopped talking to them and every time they made eye contact they would glower at them. They caught onto their games almost immediately. And Sage knew it was only a matter of time before Sirius fell to her feet laughing, as would James to Lily.

The girls woke up the next morning, Sage got dressed as usual and doubled checked everything she had packed. And then she stopped. This was the second-to-last she would even be doing this. And even then it wouldn't be long after that before she returned for one night to marry Sirius. Sirius. The man who she had seen turn from a flirtatious and, in her family's terms, scandalous boy, to who she fell in love with more and more every day.

Yes, he was a little shit in times like now, always looking for pranks and games to play, mischief bleaching his mind and soul with euphoria every time he thought of something new, but Merlin did she love him. He changed so much in the past to years alone, and in a good way, a great way. Sirius wasn't trying to shag anybody or flirt with every girl he laid his eyes on, he was trying to settle down with her for a good life after they graduated, so they could raise a child and have one of their own in the far off future. Sirius Black was becoming a better man.

Sage would never be able to put into words how much she adored him. Sirius always did everything he could to make her feel alive, and present. Something she had never really been before. Just happy.

"Are you nervous?" Lily's voice broke through Sage's mind and she looked over to her redhead friend. "No...? Yes? I'm nervous about going home, my father still hasn't been the kindest in his letters, and I'm nervous about Alexander, but at the same time I've never been more eager to meet anyone in my entire life." Lily smiled at Sage softly and grabbed her hands before squeezing them softly. "You're going to be a great mum, Sage," Her tone was gentle but held encouragement. "I hope so... Oh! I almost forgot, are we still spending New Years together at my place? I want you and James to meet Alex before we come back,"

Lily giggled at Sage's conversation change. "I will definitely be there, I wouldn't miss it for the world."

Sirius watched as Sage pulled her cloak tighter around her body. Snow was still falling as the six of them walked down to the train and the temperature had dropped even farther than the night before. Sirius stepped closer to wrap his arm over her shoulders and lean her into him. Sage's almost black hair moved as she turned her head to offer him a grateful smile. Jasper was supposed to join them but he wanted to stay with Eden and her friends. The middle-child has grown concerned with young Eden and the people she associated with, but Sage thought he was being dramatic.
