Kayla sat up quickly her eyes scanning the page slowly. Soaking up every word she read. "KAYLA!" Her brother's voice broke her out of her trance. 'No no!' She thought to herself.

Groaning she puts her bookmark back in the book saving her page. And rushes downstairs. "Whaddup Verno." She says slightly glaring at the chubby cheeked boy. "I'm going to the treehouse wanna come?" He asks. "Sure lemme grab my book." "Nerd." "Excuse me Mr 'I buried my pennies and drew maps but mom threw them away and now I can't find them' I think you'll find I'm a bookworm there's a difference."

She sprints up the stairs, before the boy could say anything and grabs her book. Boy was she excited! Excited to get back to her book but to also see her long time crush and best friend Gordie. Ugh he was just so gorgeous. If you asked Kayla what she liked about Gordie she could go on for hours about him. She was head over heels.

The brother and sister arrived at the treehouse Vern once again forgetting the secret knock and Kayla having to do it. They climb in and sit down. Greetings were tossed around the room as the pair sat down. Kayla got back to her book.

This worried Dorothy a little, but she knew that only the Great Oz could help her get to Kansas again, so she bravely resolved not to turn back.

"Wow I wonder what it'd be like to visit OZ." She whispers to herself. She closed her eyes and imagined what it'd be like. All of a sudden she felt as if someone was next to her. "Y'know if OZ was such a nice place why did Dorothy want to go back to Kansas?" Gordie asks the girl. "She wanted to go back because she wanted to be with her family. She loves her family with all her heart. There's no way she'd stay in OZ and leave them behind."

Gordie chuckled at the girl's response. That's the third time this week she's read the book. She adores it. The Wonderful Wizard of OZ book that Kayla had in her hands was a gift. Gordie had given it to her for her birthday the previous year and she fell in love with it when she first read it.

Not just because Gordie gave it to her but she loved the characters and the storyline. It's been two years since they found the body of ray brower. And they all stayed close friends especially Kayla and Gordie. They were inseparable they took the college courses together and are excelling and are helping Chris together.

"I'd stay in OZ like I love you guys but I'd stay in OZ. Live my own fairytale." Kayla says sighing at the thought of living her own real life fairytale. But, what she didn't know is that Vern had found out about her crush on Gordie and told him. Dick move am I right? "How about I follow every romance story?" Gordie asks. Kayla was utterly confused by what her best friend had said. "You know the ones where the girl has a crush on her best friend but doesn't want to ruin their friendship but in reality the boy likes her back and was told by one of his friends that she likes him." Did he know that she liked him?

"W-what are you on about?" Kayla stuttered out. "I like you Kayla and I know you like me too." What?! How did he know. "Vern you Litt..." she was cut off by Gordie planting a kiss on her lips. They broke apart when everyone in the tree house started cheering. "About time!" Chris shouted. "Gordie got the girl." Teddy says smirking at Kayla who had hid her face in Gordie's shoulder.

It may not have been a fairytale but she wouldn't have had it any other way.
