We ate dinner almost immediately after Rich and Duncan came back. To say the food was delicious was probably the biggest understatement of the year. Everything was absolutely perfect, from the complimentary bread, to the side salad, to the actual meal. Spencer and I shared some surf and turf, which was definitely a good choice, despite the price tag.

We took our shots somewhere between the half way point of finishing our meals. The waitress brought them out, a mischievous twinkle in her eye as she sat them down on the table and told us to enjoy. Duncan smiled, patting me on the back as he grabbed his glass and downed it without hesitation. He let out a sigh, nodding his head. "Good shit." He said.

Rich and I clinked our glasses, throwing our heads back. Unlike, Duncan, Rich made a face of pure disgust, groaning as he slammed the glass on the table and reached for his water. I swallowed hard, clearing my throat a bit after it went down. It wasn't too bad. Some tequilas I found absolutely repulsive, while others actually tasted pretty good. This one was somewhere in the middle.

"I hope you guys don't mind us leaving a bit early." I took a couple sips of beer, glancing between the two of them.

"Places to be?" Rich asked.

"My coworkers decided to kind of do something similar." Spencer added. "They wanted to meet Lor in more of a casual setting."

"Casual?"

"Oh, uh." I glanced at Spencer curiously, I guess we hadn't really explained a whole lot on how we met. Not that it was a pretty story on my part. "We met at my brother's wedding. Kevin and his wife both work with Spencer."

"You guys met last week?" Rich looked surprised.

"Yes." Spencer nodded.

"So this is awfully fresh, huh." I looked over at Duncan who finally looked to be caught up on everything we'd talked about. He nodded his head in my direction, waving his finger as if he'd cracked some secret code.

"I guess so." I shrugged.

"I thought you two had been together for at least a year," Rich smiled, "it seems you guys are pretty compatible."

"She's fairly easy to get along with." Spencer smirked.

We talked for a little while longer about me and my work ethic, which was weird. I never had so many people say so many nice things about me in one room. Coming from the family I had I definitely wasn't used to it.

At around ten Spencer thankfully got a call from Penelope who was definitely at least three drinks in. She screamed over the phone over the loud music, wondering where we were. He laughed it off, telling her we'd be there soon, which meant it was probably our cue to leave. Both Duncan and Rich understood and ushered us off. I offered to pay, but Rich scoffed in my face and told me to go away. I laughed and gave him a hug, thanking him for everything. Spencer and him shook hands and chatted for a bit, while I turned to Duncan.

"Hey, thanks for yesterday... and tonight. It was fun."

"It was," he took a couple of sips, leaning back in his chair, "your boy seems nice."

"I'd like to think so."

"All makes sense now."
"Hm?" I raised my brow.

"Why you were pissed at what's his face." He scrunched up his, trying to remember his name. "This whole thing's pretty new and you want to protect it. Understandable."

I nodded. "Jason can be a bit... weird sometimes."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah."
