" I'll stay." Jayne gave a wavering smile, in which Desmideus gave a sincere one back.
"Great." He looked at her as if she were the moon and he was the sun. As if she hadn't slapped a few minutes prior. Not that Desmideus would ever admit to it, but he did slightly enjoy it.
"I-uh, I have to go back now." Jayne looked around the room, avoiding eye contact.
"Of course." He did a slight bow and opened the door, Jayne gave a slight laugh and thanked him, walking out.
When she closed the door of the drawing-room she saw Chris standing outside waiting for her.
"How'd it go?" He asked, biting his nail.
"You can keep your job."
He lowered his hand, "Ah, that's great!" He grabbed her shoulders, "What about you, are you being forced to stay."
Jayne looked off to the side and sighed, not liking the word 'forced', "truth be told, I may have been a little paranoid, this place isn't so bad, I'll see you see back here after Desmideus' ball." She gently moved away from him and moved towards the stairs.
"You're not coming to the party?" Chris turned to face her, seeming a little dejected.
"No, parties aren't really my scene, plus, not like a can afford a fitting dress for such an event." She laughed and walked down the stairs, leaving Chris on his own.

She steadily made her way back to Abraham's room, anxious to go back in there. She was hovering back and forth in front of the door, and just about as she decided to go in, Abraham opened the door.
"Jayne, where have you been? You were gone for a really long time, I was just about to go out and look for you."
"Oh! Yeah... about that... change of plans."
"What?"
"I ran into his highness and uh... we talked it out, the main reason why I wanted to leave was Octavia, however, he's agreed to let us stay in a house together for a week while the ball is taking place and after she's gone, we can go back to our old lives and work at the castle."
"That's great!" Abraham beamed and embraced her once again, burying his nose in her apple and lavender-scented her he adores so much.
Is he sniffing me? Jayne shook at him inhaling, usually, when he buried his face in her hair she didn't think too much of it but recently she started to ponder his true motivations.
She pulled away.
"Is something wrong?" He looked down at her, in the time they had known each other Abraham and grew significantly taller, being around half a foot taller and had to look down at her to address Jayne.
"Oh- yeah! Just um- feeling a bit claustrophobic." She laughed painfully.
"Oh, uh, well... so... we're going to be staying in a house together, just the two of us?" He grinned.
Jayne soured, "Ha," she gave a disheartened laugh and took a step back, "Yeah."
"Is something wrong? You've been acting kind of weird." Abraham took a step towards her.
"No! It's just... I'm... stressed. You know, Octavia and all that, a week's not a long way."
"Jayne," He sighed, "Everything will be alright," He grabbed onto her shoulders, "As long as I'm here, everything will be alright, it's you and me against the world."
"Y-yeah."

A couple of days had passed and Desmideus stayed true to his word, providing Jayne and Abraham with a temporary home in the outskirts of the plain district, it was modestly small but had a splendid view of the city's brick wall and nothing else seeing as it was on the edge of the city's border.
