Hikari Rōzu The 14 year old son of a wood cutter. He was a normal boy he helped with his father's work helped his mother with chores had fun with friends there was nothing really special about Him he was just a cheerful Kid.

But in this world nothing ever stays the same and things happen

Bad things
That's just how life works and as hard as it may be you have to accept that

Hikari learned this in a horrible way on one cold night
——————

(Morning)

Hikari woke up early with his father like every morning to go and chop some wood
Winter is coming soon meaning wood sells the best in this time. It also means more work but Hikari is used to it he is happy that he can help his family.

"Good morning father"
Hikari said as his father sat up from his futon beside hikari

Because his family Is quite poor they don't have a big house
They have the bear minimum a bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and a living room

His father stood up and said good morning to his son as he went to the living room and sat at the table with his son. His wife and Hikari's mother was already up making breakfast it was nothing special just some rice and bread
It was all they could afford

After eating his Hikari and his father went out into the woods
They could see the beautiful sunrise in the distance as the light poked through the trees this is what they saw every morning.
And to Hikari it makes getting up so early worth it.

"So father shall we get started"
The young boy said happily as he picked up an axe

"We shall"
His father said in a calm voice as he also grabbed an axe and putting it inside a cart as he walked away pulling it behind him

They chopped away until the sun was directly above there head
They had filled the cart completely
Any more and the wood would collapse and fall everywhere
They walked back to there house and had lunch
It was the same rice and bread as before but they didn't mind they were used to this kind of life and they were happy nothing needed to change. After lunch they chopped they wood into smaller pieces so it would be easy to make a fire and transport
When they were done it was there job done for the day they would go and sell the wood in town tomorrow

Hikari spent the rest of the day helping his mom with chores such as dishes, laundry cleaning after that he spent his time fooling around with a ball that had been a gift from his parents so he wood have something to do when work was done

He bounced off his feet, hands, head, and pretty much anywhere trying not to let it touch the ground
But he lost concentration and the ball hit the ground when a whole bunch of kids came over to him
They were from the town and always came to play with him when his work was done

"Hikari nii-san let us play with the ball too"
One of the children said with a huge smile on his face looking at the ball in Hikaris hand

"Sure I'll pass it too you don't let it hit the ground and pass it to someone else, don't hold it for more than a second,
Who ever drops it is out last one standing is the winner"

"YAY" the children shouted in excitement

Of course most of them dropped the ball because there small limbs not being Able to properly hit the ball that was twice the size of there own head
The people who were left were the older children who have grown more around the ages 8-10

Eventually Hikari wins the game and all the children leave for dinner as Hikari goes into his own home to eat as well.
He and his family had a happy meal and relaxed the rest of the the night before they went to sleep.

CRASH

A loud noise woke up the Rōzu family

What could it be a burglar, wild boar who knows

His parents stand up in front of him protectively not knowing if it's dangerous or not

"Be  silent don't make a sound"
His father whispers not wanting to alert the potential danger

They hear lots of different noises
Tatami mass being shred wood being snapped bowls being smashed
Until they hear whatever it is walking towards the door to the room there in

Judging by the foot steps Hikari thinks it's a human

How wrong he was

The creature bust through the door lunging at his mother he grabs her by both arms pulls her close and bites into her shoulder

She screams in pain

"AAAHHH"

His father try's to pull the creature off put he is stabbed right through the heart by the creatures hand with sharp shiny metal looking nails and dies instantly the creature bites off the head of his mother and drops it on the floor

"Hello there little boy"

It says as a look at the scene before my eyes both my parents killed in and instant
It lunges at me I guickly jump back barely dodging as it scrapes underneath my eye

It goes for another swipe with its nails
This time it hits me slicing threw my chest

I fall down in excruciating pain as he goes for the final attack

'This is where I die my life wasn't so bad I guess.  I had a good family, good friends the only bad thing was this a creature killing my family in I. There's nothing I can do about it"

He closes his eyes as he has his last thought

'I still need to sell the wood how will people make it through the winter'

After that he is prepared for death

CRASH
Shing

A loud noise made him open his eyes there he sees a girl with long flowing hair holding a sword and just cut of the creatures head

'Beautiful'

Was his last thought before he blacked out
