At the age of 5, Violet stuck out like a sore thumb.

Her long curly pink hair fell down to her waist, her big doe eyes glistened, and she wore the cutest outfits.

Leah felt like floating from the many compliments she received.

Not to mention how smart Violet was!

She was already reading at a level beyond a kindergartners level.

The only problem Leah did have, was the strange behavior Violet would display from time to time.

For her 5th birthday they had bought her a hamster.

It's cute little eyes and puffy cheeks made their daughter laugh in delight.

But just after a few days of receiving it, Leah found the hamster dead in Violets room.

It lay outside of its cage, lifeless and somewhat bloody, it's eyes open.

Leah was horrified and worried.

She had thought that perhaps their cat had done it.

He was a known troublemaker.

But, as she questioned it, she thought to herself ,"Wouldn't the cat have eaten it?".

Something just didn't feel right.

Brushing it off, that night she told her daughter in tears.

To be expected, the child cried and Leah felt guilty.

That was until 2 days later.

The cat was found dead in the hallway.

Bloody as if someone had kicked it over and over again.

Leah was horrified and had no idea what was going on.

When she spoke to River about it, he merely shrugged and replied ,"Animals die. Part of life baby".

Violet once again cried and Leah couldn't but hug her child tightly at night.

Losing two pets, oh how Leah felt horrible.

She had thought of maybe getting Violet a puppy.

They buried the cat next to the hamster and soon Violet seemed to forget about them.

One day, Leah was cleaning her daughters room, she saw some toys sticking out from under her bed.

Smiling, she bent down and reached down to grab anything underneath the bed.

What she grabbed wasn't a toy.

But a big rock covered in old blood.

As Leah stared at the rock, a horrible feeling came over her, as her daughter came into the room.

"What's that Mommy?"

And as Leah looked at her daughter, she gasped in horror.

Her daughters normally cheerful eyes were empty and menacing.

A twisted grin on her little face.
