I shut the door behind me, fighting every urge in my body to not punch a tree. How could I let this happen? I could tell she was getting too upset about having to leave again.

I walked over to a shaded bench, completely lost in my thoughts. I want to see her, she doesn't want to see me. I want to hold her..love her..was I stupid for thinking this was going to work? She's 18! Of course she's shutting down, you're a grown ass adult!

"Hello..?" A hand waved in front of my face causing me to snap out of my thought trail. I looked to the girl beside me "Is it cool if I sit?" She asked, gesturing to the place beside me. I nodded, watching as she sat beside me. This is like maya all over again.

She sat quietly, opening up a book and looking to the pages. I could tell she wasn't really reading it.. "okay I'm gonna be honest with you, I saw you sitting here and I thought you were kinda cute so I wanted to come see if you'd like to go out sometime..?" She looked up to me with a smile

I shifted uncomfortably "..I don't think so sorry.." I mumble. She pouted "why? Got a girlfriend?" She asked. "It's complicated" I replied. I don't have a girlfriend, what's there to be complicated?

"How so?" She proded. I looked to her confused, why does she want to know so much. "Because she lives in New York and it's not really working with me being over here" I replied. "Why are you here? Why isn't she?" She asked

I frowned "because I go to college and she's still-...In school over there" I play it cool, not telling her that I mean high school instead of college. "That doesn't make sense? Why did you apply for a college here then?" She questioned

I looked to her weirdly for a few seconds "because I only met her this year.." I say quietly. She gave me another small smile, "you really like her don't you?"

I nodded, "I do..but it's just not gonna work.." I shrug. She stood up from her spot on the bench "it sounds to me like you need to get your ass on a plane to New York" she stated. I shook my head, "I can't keep coming and going..that's part of why it's complicated" I reply

She took a step away from me, "No. I mean get your ass on a plane to New York for good. You being here isn't doing either of you any favours" she smirked before walking off down the path.

Maybe she's right?

I get up from my place on the bench, walking back to the college and heading to the front office with one question in mind.
