Sick

Ella's pov:

Ever since I woke up this morning, I haven't been feeling the best.

Usually I start off my mornings pretty well. Even though it can be hard getting out of bed, what typically motivates me is getting to see my friends and boyfriend everyday.

But instead of being excited to start the day, I felt pretty miserable.

My head was throbbing, my throat was sore, and to be honest, I felt like I got ran over by a bus in my sleep.

"You don't look too good, are you okay honey?" My mom asks, standing by the front door while crossing her arms over her chest as she watches me pack my school bag for the day.

"Yeah, I think I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed." I lie, cringing at the awful sound of my voice.

Not going to lie, I sound like I've been either smoking for sixty years or I've been stranded in the desert for three weeks without water.

In any case...

Not good.

"Are you sure? You are free to stay home and take the day off from school." She says, moving forward to feel my forehead, but I quickly step back, shaking my head.

"Really, I'm okay. Plus, I have this big essay due today for English. I don't want her to think I skipped school just so I had another day to turn it in."

She stares at me for a second, debating whether to ask me anymore questions or not before taking a deep breath.

"If you say so, but please give me a call if you start to feel worse throughout the day. I will come and get you, got it?"

I nod my head before giving her a quick hug, just around the time that I see a familiar car pull up to our driveway.

"Ally! Luke's here!" I call out, watching her run down the stairs.

"I'm ready." She says, following me out the door.

Opening the passenger seat to the car, I give a big smile to Luke, to which he returns instantly, grabbing a hold of my hand as the other held the wheel.

"Hey beautiful." He says, caressing his thumb over my hand as I blush at his cute gesture.

"Nothing is better than third wheeling every single morning with my two favorite people." Ally jokes from the back, causing a chuckle from Luke and myself.

"It's okay Ally, one day you will find someone who you will fall head over heels with too. And next thing you know, we will be the ones having to watch all your lovey dovey-..."

Ally quickly interrupts me from continuing, covering her reddened face, "Okay, okay, I get it! Just drive Luke." She demands, while he playfully salutes.

"Yes ma'am." He says while I laugh at his goofy behavior.

But that quickly stops when I feel a shot of pain in my head.

Without thinking, I grab onto it while squeezing my eyes shut, waiting for it to quickly pass like all of the other ones did in the last hour or so.

"Are you okay baby?" Luke asks, noticing my sudden change in behavior. He gives me a worried glance before looking back at the road.

I quickly put my hand back down, trying to play it off as if it was normal, "Yeah, I'm all good. The sun just got in my eyes... pretty badly."

Well there goes the plan of playing it off normally.
