Chapter 1.4

You spent the next day in a nearby forest, training as hard as you could, missing many shots and cursing yourself for how sloppy you had become.

You used to hunt small game with an old friend and it was beyond relaxing, the sheer silence and tranquility as you rack an arrow in place, eyeing your target, waiting for the perfect moment.

Now you were lucky to even land an arrow, once again, you berate yourself after missing a 5th shot and out of pure stubbornness, you rack and fire an arrow in a blur.

In a fit of irony, despite being taught not to let your emotions get the better side of you, that was the only arrow that hit and it was a bullseye to add insult to injury.
You wipe sweat from your brow, walking over to collect arrows that weren't shattered or splintered thanks to your shoddy marksmanship, you spot a rabbit.. or so you thought, it was transparent and glowing a bright shade of blue with golden antlers, it was truly a breathtaking sight to lay eyes upon.
You slowly crouch down while racking an arrow, watching it survey its surroundings, making sure not to spook it since you didnt know if it had sharp hearing or sight, you draw the arrow back... it suddenly looked at you, making you freeze... you hadn't made a sound apart from a faint ping from racking an arrow against the string so what... oh no.. it wasnt looking at you was it..

Arrow still drawn and your heart racing, you dash foward, barely dodging an attack before planting your foot against a tree, pushing off of it and into a dive as you release the arrow precisely, it meets its intended target making it wail in pain which caught you off guard.
You fall, twist and roll into a crouched position, racking another arrow, you stand and walk towards your opponent who was knelt down holding an arrow embedded deep in the persons arm which was then embedded into the ground. After taking a moment to look, it was a man wielding a circular saw blade but looking much more menacing and brutal and wore a read and black jumpsuit, you couldn't help but shiver at the fact that you nearly got hit by that blade, you shake your head and stand straight with your bow trained on the mans head.
A moment passes and it's made obvious that hes not gonna be the first to speak.

"W-who are you!?"

He let's out an evil laugh, you can feel his sickening grin peirce your soul beneath his mask.

"We are the yiga clan"

You heard about them, of course only so little since everyone you saw up against them only took a few seconds before they were taken down.
Of course all of them were links doing since it was all gameplay footage.

How lucky had you just bee- wait he just said we!
You let the arrow you racked fly into the yiga members head and spin around just in time to see 2 arrows careening straight for your head too, you barely had enough time to react as you lean to the side, missing one and inadvertently catching the other, not wasting a moment, you spin around into a knelt position, adrenaline pumping through you, you rack the arrow and draw back as hard as you can and release, watching it fly through the other yiga members heart.
You stay knelt, breathing heavily and shaking. You wait for more to show.. seems like that was his backup as no more show up, thankfully.
You couldn't take on anymore after that, you missed every shot except for the most crucial ones, even one missed and you wouldnt be standing..

You walk over cautiously to the yiga member you had just put down to make sure he wasnt getting back up.
He was dead, clean shot through the heart like you saw earlier, looking up you see an arrow caked in blood and dripping, dug into a tree straight ahead making you look away.
You wait a few minutes in case more come, soon you scavenge the two for supplies, you find 10 arrows between the two and 250 rupees.It felt so wrong with how things were back home but you knew it was eitger you or them now even if the guilt crushed your soul. You stash them away in your bag and get out of the area as quick as you possibly could, as you near the edge of the forest, you hear a branch snap making you stare off into the forest, after a moment you see a boar run out from behind a tree making you sputter out a nervous cough.
You experienced enough for today so you let it run both for your arrows and your own sake. You take a moment to breath in deep and let it out slowly, you manage to calm your nerves just enough to realise you still had the bow clutched tighlty in your hand, you wrap it over your shoulder and get out while you still can.

Champions p.o.v.

Link was following close behind the princess as she rambled on about a shrine that was recently discovered to urbosa, the other champions were having their day off, meanwhile link was ordered to protect the princess and she wasnt the easiest to convince not to go when it involved sheikah technology and of course urbosa couldn't turn down the opportunity to spend time with her "little bird" as she called her.
He didnt mind as long as he wasnt around that blue feathered prick.
He suddenly caught a faint sound of to his right, stopping him in his tracks which stopped the princess and urbosa too.
She listened and soon she waved it off.
"Its nothing, sounds like someone is doing some target practice"
She stated as she starts to walk but stops again, gripping the hilt of her sword.

"Link, stay with the princess and guard her with your life, I'm going to take a closer look..."
Before anyone could protest, she was entering the forest, hunched down in the tall grass, after a minute she spots the tip of a yiga members head as he moves in on an unsuspecting bystander, seemed like a hunter, she prepares her stance, ready to pounce...

Then you spring into action, once subdued, you speak.
"W-who are you!?"

Taking her by suprise, she pushes the tall grass apart enough for her to see without being spotted
A thought crossed her mind at that moment,after gettung a ckear view, she ciukd see it was of a strangely clothed hylian who had been out cold for over a day... so its him..

She shushes herself mentally and watches you as you figure out the yiga member came with a friend, suddenly taking out the subdued yiga, then without a second wasted, dodge the others well placed shot and catch the arrow!
Before she knew it, the other had been dealt with and you were knelt down, breathing heavily, bow still in hand as if you're expecting more to show... after a few minutes, she watches you scavenge the bodies and only just catching a glimpse of you looking away at the bloodied arrow.

She decides to fall back to tell the princess but a branch snapped behind her making her glance suddenly at what was now a sneaking princess, holding a sheikah slate in her hands, a boar hops out nearby, thankfully diverting your attention before running off.
The two hear you break posture as you cough nervously, giving urbosa a thought.. has he never fought before?..
Before she could conclude anything, the two watch you place your bow away... it looked pretty intricate, unfortunately you dont stick around so that's all the two got to see.

The two let out a relieved sigh and a sound of metal being sheathed, link had snuck up too and got up once he was certain you were gone.

The princess was the first to break the silence
"Should.. should we follow?"

"No.. Im certain that hes not a part of the yiga clan.. but we should keep our distance.. for now"

Link nods in agreement before signaling with a finger up towards the sky that it's getting late.
With that, the princess taps the screen of the sheikah slate, urbosa couldn't help but ask what she was doing so close to danger and she simply showed recorded footage of your fight against the yiga clan, leaving urbosa speechless.
