Chapter 21

Mal, Carlos, and Doug stared at the screen. They were shocked at what was happening. They looked at how Ben shoved Jane into a wall. He was extremely close to her. Doug turned up the volume of the laptop.

Ben walks towards her and forces her against the nearest wall "After what I did huh?" He says
breathy "Don't talk to your king like that, girly." He said. Jane's breath was shakey "B-Ben-" She started. Ben pushes her harder against the wall "Don't...even...try." he said. He leaned down to her ear "Get him back before he tells them about our little secret." He whispers, "Can you do that for me?" Jane nods slowly. Ben smiles devilish "Good Girl." He whispers and releases her, "Now go." he said.

Doug closed the laptop. Mal glared at Doug "What was he talking about?" She asked him. Doug stood there trying to act confused and innocent. Mal grabbed his collar "Ben said something about you telling us about a secret, what secret?" She asked him. Doug chuckled "If I told you it wouldn't be a secret anymore." He said trying to change the mood. Mal's eyes turned green "Don't try to play games with me Doug, I will feed you to the dogs!" Mal threads. Doug holds up his hands "Okay okay! Jane is like Ben's slave now and I am one of his best friends. He told me to kidnap Fairy Godmother when Audrey stole the queen's crown and became this 'Queen of mean'." He explained.
Carlos was confused "Why would he do that? I thought he wanted to protect Auradon, not destroy it." He said. Mal let's go of Doug "He does. He thought that with Fairy Godmother out of the way, he could convince Mal to come back and save everyone. His plan was to make everyone love her for saving him and Auradon. And when the people love you, you would've been forced to become Ben's queen." Doug explains. Mal's eyes slowly faded back to their original color "You can't be serious." She said. Carlos runs his hand through his hair "It does make sense. It sounds like something Ben would do." He said. Doug nodded slowly "Checking in on Evie wasn't the only reason why I came to the Isle." He said.

Carlos pulls Mal closer "What are we going to do now?" He asked her. Mal looked back at Doug "Was Jane there when you kidnapped her mom?" She asked him. Doug shook his head "Ben couldn't risk her rescuing her mom and leaving his side. He needs Jane to get updates on everything that's happening on the Isle." He tells them. Carlos looks at Doug "So, everything we told Jane...she told Ben?" He asked. Doug nodded "She didn't have much choice." He says. Carlos felt bad for Jane. They did date for a while. Mal glanced at Carlos and brushed her thumb over his cheek "Hey, you alright?" She asked him. Carlos nodded "Yeah, I'm just a little worried about Jane." He tells her. Mal smiled at him "We will find her." She said and turned back to Doug "Thank you for telling us this. You can stay here in case she comes back. We'll come back as soon as possible." Mal tells him. Doug nods "I'm not going anywhere." Mal nods and leaves the room. Carlos followed up behind her "Carlos!" Doug called. Carlos glances over his shoulder "I'm sorry about Dude and your daughter. I just want to help." Doug said. Carlos smiles slightly "I know." He said and runs out after Mal.

Meanwhile, Maleficent stood on the balcony. She looked at the Isle before her eyes trailed towards Auradon "Plotting again?" A voice behind her said. Maleficent shook her head "No, thinking." She said. Hades stood next to her "About what?" He asked her. Maleficent shrugs "Why Mal doesn't let me destroy that prince back in Auradon." She said, "All of our problems could be solved!" She complained. Hades chuckled "I don't think it's that easy." He said. Maleficent glared at him "You're not easy." She said. Hades looks at her "Thanks for the compliment, now tell me what's bothering you." He said. Maleficent groaned "Don't you miss the times when we used to ruin their lives and be the most powerful beings on earth?" She asked him. Hades shrugs "Maybe. I kind of like the fact that we don't have to worry about anything." He said. Maleficent turned to him "Do you really want us to end like this? We worked so hard and now what? We just watch from the sideline?" She said.

Hades looked at her "I guess. I thought you wanted a happy ending." He said, "At least that's what you used to tell me." He said. Maleficent groans "Villains don't get happy endings! And this-" She got cut off by Hades. He pressed his finger against her lips "Easy girl." He said. Maleficent looked at him "I just feel like I'm not worthy anymore. Mal doesn't need me, Melanie doesn't need me either, and my daughter asked me to give up dark magic. What am I without dark magic?!" She screamed. Hades calmed her down "You are so much more than just a villain. You don't need magic to make you feel better, you need love." He said. She tried to pull away "Ugh!" She said. Hades chuckled "You used to love me, do you remember that?" He asked her.
She looked away "We tried that, and-" "And we got Mal." He said. It was a sweet moment between two former lovers. Maleficent even started to lean in... "But you wouldn't let me see her." He complained. Maleficent groaned "You're unbelievable!" She said and walked off.

A/N: I wanted to make the chapter longer so I put this scene with Maleficent and Hades in there... I don't think it's very important I just had to write something😂 I will try to publish another chapter today
