William

My blue eyes trained on the warm mug of hot chocolate, watching as Lucille swirled her spoon around in it before lifting it to her lips, the froth from the melted marshmallows touching them.

She sips on the warm beverage before placing it back down on the coffee table ,not paying
any mind to me.

I would love to have some steaming hot cocoa right now, but liquid calories are worse than regular.  Hot chocolate is one of my favorite drinks though...

Maybe I can make just a small amount, like 4 ounces. No, Will. You'll get fatter from all the liquid sugar and chocolate. You might as well eat a million chocolate bars if you're going to drink cocoa.

I sip on my cup of water, imagining if it was a warm, steaming cup of the chocolatey goodness my sister was enjoying on this cold afternoon. Most everyone was huddled in the living room, the fireplace was full of wood, and a warm fire was burning.

My mom was out of town for a few days because one of her friends were having a wedding, and my dad didn't want to go to a strangers wedding. So now he has to watch all 5 of us for the rest of the week.

The girls all insisted we watched a Christmas movie this evening, even though it was less than a month ago. But my dad and I got sucked into watching The Polar Express.

My dad and I glanced uneasily at each other. Why watch a Christmas movie when it's the middle of January?  And why this movie out of all of them? I think I rather watch The Grinch than this.

I dismissed the ridiculousness of the idea, letting the girls find the movie. My dad commented to them now we should just watch a non-holiday related movie since all the major holidays just happen over the last 3ish months.

"But the Polar Express is such a good movie, Dad!" Gabrielle exclaims, holding up the movie case. "You don't have to watch it on just Christmas."

Isn't that the whole point of the movie though? To watch it on or near Christmas...

My dad just sighs and waves my sister off, agreeing to watch it.  Gabby smiles, quickly putting the movie into.

"How much popcorn do you want, Will? A bag to yourself or do you want to share with Rose?"

Is neither an option?

I knew Rose would eat all the popcorn and completely forget we were sharing, so I chose the second option. Saying, "I don't want any popcorn," would just make them think I was acting weird.

As the girls made popcorn, I watched the movie trailers of old movies, wishing we could watch something other than The Polar Express.

It's a good movie, but I've watched it so many times that it's just become dreadful to watch. But my opinion doesn't really matter to them when it comes to these kind of small decisions.

The movie seemed like it last for hours. I wish I could just sit in the bathroom until it was over, but I didn't want to spoil my sisters fun. Like I assumed, Rose ate all the popcorn and apologized for eating it all in the middle of the movie.

I waved it off, more than glad that she did.

"Can we watch a not so Christmassy movie?" I request as the twins and Gabby looked through DVD's while Lucille scrolled through Netflix. My eyes scan the screen. "Ooh, what about The Babysitter?"

Lucille glanced at Gabrielle and the twins with a questioning look.

"Isn't that movie inappropriate?"

Lucille groans at our dad, "okay and? We've seen it before." He just rolls his eyes, but reluctantly agrees to watch it with us.

In a few parts, usually towards the beginning, it was a bit awkward watching the movie with our dad in the room. It also didn't help that I kept laughing and he would give me a disappointed head shake.
