Tahimik akong napahagikgik sa reaksiyon ng prinsipe at itinago lamang sa aking makahulugang ngiti. Nahihiya at ayaw akong tingnan sa mga mata.

“I am sorry for my tardiness, Lady di Vonce. I am Lorves, the duke of House Kallon.” Lorves nodded as his greeting.

“I hope we get along, Duke Kallon.” Matamis kong ngiti sa kanya.

“Likewise, Lady.” Tango nito sa akin.

Unlike the others, he is stoic and and emotionless. I also cannot seem to read him well because of his blank expression. He is a little mysterious, I am curious as well.

Sumingkit ang aking mga mata sa kanya. Ibinaling ko ang tingin sa prinsipe na hindi pa rin makatingin sa akin.

His recovery from embarrassment seems too long. I know that he does not have any experience with women from the book it cannot be any serious, right? Or is he being shy because it is me?

“We meet again, Your Highness.” Ako na ang unang bumasag ng katahimikan.

“Likewise.” He said grimace.

“Tawagin mo na lamang akong Arisia, mahal na prinsipe. You are of higher standing than me so that is just appropriate.”

“I have no reason to address you casually.” Iling nito at pinagkrus ang mga braso. Ngumisi ako.

He is playing hard, huh?

“I insist, Your Highness.” Tumikhim siya. “I thought we have become closer since that night?” I grinned. “Or is it just me?” Hinaluan ko ng lungkot ang aking boses. He was a bit taken aback. Napabalik-tingin na rin ang tingin sa amin ni Lorves. He must be confused. “Mukhang nagkamali ako, mahal na prinsipe. Please forgive me for making such assumptions.” I sighed and bowed to him. “Why did I even dare to think such things?” I murmured. Iniwas ko ang aking tingin. I saw how his jaw dropped a bit through my peripheral view, he is not turning red anymore.

“What---f-fine. I should just call your name, is it not? Lady A-Arisia.” Napautal ito. He realized it and quickly tuned red again. Muntik na akong mapatawa ngunit napigilan nang kinagat ko ang aking labi.

Really, how cute can he be.

“Your Highness, we should take a seat.” Lorves interrupted. I was a bit annoyed because I wanted to tease Rionsky more but he is right. We should not keep a prince standing the whole time.

“Why should I sit with you? I do not have to listen to you guys. Besides, it is none of my business.” He touched his glasses with his index and middle finger and smirked. Ihinilig niya ang kanyang ulo.

I am used to it but really see his reactions really cute? Also neat. How can he be hot and cute at the same time?

“You can just rest upstairs like'you used to, Your Highness. I will have my butler---”

“No need.” Rionsky interrupted Lorves with a wave of his hand. “I can go by myself. Enjoy your petty conversation.” The prince smirked and scoffed. His eyes seductively squinted as he said that.

“Yes, Your Highness. Please rest well.” I saw how his stiffened and blushed again before turning his back and leaving us. I even found myself waving at him. Nang mawala siya sa aking paningin ay tumikhim ako at nagseryoso na. Lorves is now seated across mine when I looked at him while sipping tea.

He is fast. I did not even noticed him move at all.

My lips formed a straight line before sitting as well. “I did not know that you get along with the Crown Prince well, Duke Kallon.” I started.

“I am a duke but I am also a handpicked knight of his.” His expression did not changed.

“Oh, is that so?” Umawang ang aking labi.

Of course I knew that, people knows well that he was the first picked knight by Crown Prince. I thought that he must be offended of what I said but he did not. Is he open-minded and considerate knowing that I was imprisoned by my whole life in our house?

“Yes, Lady.” Tango niya lang at tumahimik ulit.

He is such a man of few words that it is hard to talk to him about things.

I pursed my lips.

Still, I find his name oddly familiar, not because he is Rionsky’s knight. Nabanggit ba siya sa libro ngunit akin lamang nakalimutan?

Napakagat-labi ko.

I am not sure at all. It has been years since I read it. Natural lang na makalimutan ko ang iba pang mga pangyayari at mga karakter doon. I only knew the major characters. Of course, as a countermeasure, I wrote those I remember from the book but I do not recall him at all. I should do some reminiscing when I get back home.

“I heard that you are a swordmaster.”

“Yes.” Tumango siya at napapikit pa.

He is so confident that he must have trust his abilities. He is not humble at all and is straight forward. I like it.

”I also heard that you are amazing at archery.” Puna ko pa.

“Only a few people knows that.”

“I heard it from Father.” I lied.

“I see.” He nodded.

“I hope you can teach me some of your techniques when there is time. I also love the ambiance of your house. It is dark but comfortable. I really love it.” Sumingkit ang aking mga mata at napangisi. Interest is visible in his eyes when he looked at me.

“You have a good eye.” Patango niyang sabi.

Mukhang nakuha ko na rin ang atensiyon at interest niya. He must have received criticisms because of his dark preferences that he often receives praises about it. “You can come by here anytime you want and be comfortable.” Napangisi ako.

“Thank you, Lorves.” I blurted out and smiled. Saglit siyang napatigil. “Oh, sorrry. I meant Duke Lorves.” Tumikhim siya.

“Just call me Lorves.” Napatabingi ako.

I did not see that coming.

“If you say so, Lorves.” Nakita ko ang kaunting pag-angat ng gilid ng labi niya ngunit agad din na nawala. I scoffed.

That, too, was unexpected.

Mabilis ang oras at hindi ko namalayan na dapit-hapon na pala. Even Lorves did not realized it because we talked about some things with our preferences.

He is surprisingly friendly, his face did not just showed it at all. I guess I can also say that we became friends.

“Will the Crown Prince spend the night here?” I changed the topic.

Hindi na bumaba si Rionsky mula ng tumaas siya. It looks like he still being shy of what happened earlier. I guess that was partly my fault.

“I do not know.” Napatango ako.

“I see. I took some time of yours. I should get going.” I stood up and fixed myself.

“At least have dinner here.” Umiling ako sa kanyang sinabi at ngumiti. Napatayo na rin siya.

Was he that lonely?

“It is fine, and please send my regards to the Crown Prince.” I smirked and tilted my hat a bit.

“Okay, but come back anytime. We are friends now, are we not?” I stopped and looked at him.

Even though there is shyness in his voice, his face is still blank.

Napangiti ako.

I honestly want to see his expressions. Shame. He is a bit like Rionsky in a different way.

“Sure. I will come back again.” I left with a smile on my face after that. Gabi na ng makarating ako sa aming bahay. As usual, Alluis was waiting in the gate.

“Are you alright, Sister? Gabi na at delikado. You did not have to take your time you know. I am so worried!” He ranted. Mukhang dumoble ang kanyang pag-aalala dahil dito.

Should I have let him go with me?

“Do not worry. Hindi ko lang namalayan ang oras. Duke Kallon was quite fun, you know.” He pouted of what I said. Napaawang ako.

I should have left Duke Kallon’s part in it.

That night after my light dinner, Father summoned me to hear my answer regarding the marriage. He was adamant to know what I would say. Even Joaquim showed excitement while Alluis just showed an annoyed expression.

“I want to hear your thoughts.” My father did not beat around the bush.

He is really rushing it. It is getting suspicious.

I kept myself from giving him a sharp look out of curiosity.

“Duke Lorves Kallon. I pick him.” Sagot ko.

“I see. I know you would also like him since he is one I liked the most.” Even though he is from a noble faction?

“He is the only one I liked among them. We get along well.” Napatango siya sa aking sagot.

“Mmm... it is a relief.” Our conversation ended shortly and I went straight to my room. Napahiga ako sa kama dahil sa pagod.

“I also knew you would pick Duke Kallon, my lady.” Bungad sa akin ni Hilda nang pumasok siya. I tilted my head.

“Really?” I think I did not show any discomfort then but Hilda knows that my standards are high. I may get along well with Lorves but that does not mean I really chose him as my marriage partner. The only reason I chose him, after all, was because he is now close to me and that I do not want to meet other annoying people again.

“Yes, Miss. A little interest was shown from your face while talking to him. Actually I think you like the Crown Prince more and even romantically.” Agad akong napabangon at naramdamang uminit ng kaunti ang aking mga pisngi.

“What, Hilda. Sinasabi mo ba na may gusto ako sa prinsipe?” She slyly smiled. My eyes squinted a bit.

What does she even know?

“Hindi ba?” Napapikit ako. Parang may tinik sa aking lalamunan at hindi makasagot.

“Hindi.” I said it straight. “You must be mistaken, Hilda. I just like his face.” Yes, I just like the Rionsky’s face, not romantically. I know Hilda just misunderstood it, yes, she must be.

Napatango ako sa naisip.

“You are not honest, my lady. Well, that is not really important. What is important is that you are slowly getting your emotions back. I hope you can regain it fully soon.” I blinked a few times.

“Is that really so? Mukhang wala namang pagbabago sa akin. I did not notice anything.”

“Sometimes I know you better than yourself, my lady.” Hindi ako nakasagot at kaunting napangiti.

I know she is not lying but I cannot just seem to believe it. If it really is true, should I be thankful? Happy?

Bumuntong-hininga ako.

I do not know what I should feel.

Napailing ako.

Whatever it is, there is no use thinking about it.

Muling pumasok sa aking isipan ang sinabi ni Hilda na may gusto ako kay Rionsky. I scoffed. Napahawak ako sa aking mainit na pisngi.

That cannot be right. I know I do not really like him romantically.
