Redemption (Zonic the Zone Cop x Reader)

A/n: This is old, like older than all the requests and I kinda just remembered it existed, so here ya go.

"Ooh, a new slob," the inmates of the zone prison sneered as (Y/n) the (A/t) was shoved into the yard.

"Don't get too comfortable," she snapped. "I don't take kindly to bullies."

"Isn't that why you're here?" a green hedgehog asked boredly. He had grass and dirt smudged all over him and (Y/n) guessed that he had been the butt of their jokes recently.

"Maybe," she said. "But I could beat you all with my hands tied behind my back."

"Then you might get your wish," the hedgehog said grudgingly. (Y/n) tilted her head at him.

"Aren't you Scourge the Hedgehog?" she said. He looked up at her.

"You know of me?" he asked, a smirk pulling at his lips. She rested her elbows on the table.

"Yeah," she said. "Multiple infractions, self-proclaimed king, tried to take over the Prime zone, ooh, that's a naughty one."

"How do you know so much?" Scourge asked, his ears twisting back nervously.

"I am, well, was, a zone cop," the (a/t) said. "One foul move and I get locked up here by the prime man himself."

"What did you do?"

"Ran a mission against orders. I thought I could handle it, which I technically did, but at the cost of the other cops with me. I mean, I never figured out if they made it out of the hospital alive, but the fact that I got what we needed should have outweighed everyone else's opinion of me. But I was just the rogue cop who needed to be brought down." She sighed. "I loved that job. I didn't mean for it to go so badly."

"I get you," Scourge said. "I mean, I did try and conquer another planet, but that doesn't stop me from feeling sympathy for you." His ears perked. "Wait. Zonic had a partner. Is that you? Are you (Z/n) the Zone Cop?"

"Th-that would be me. I chased you down several times."

"Ah. He seemed pretty fond of you."

"Eh, Zonic doesn't really show his emotions. Everyone relates him to Sonic because of how he looks, but he keeps a lot of stuff bottled away, stuff like fondness, Scourge." The green hedgehog flattened his ears when she looked pointedly at him. "And if you keep pressing the topic, like I know you would have, then I'll send you to your dorm with a broken arm, maybe a leg if I'm feeling extra snotty."

"Alright, alright," he said. She smirked.

"Not so tough without your speed, huh?" she said, standing up. "Well, while you sit and sulk, I'm going to go keep in shape. And if anyone tries to make me the butt of their jokes, they're going to regret it. Spread the word for me?" Scourge huffed and thumped his head onto the table.

"(Y/n). Hey." She grunted and threw her head over her bed. Scourge grinned up at her toothily.

"What?" she hissed.

"Do you ever get audiences with anyone?" he asked.

"Sure. You get stuck in a tube with literally no cracks in it. Its concrete with a tiny glass window that there's no way your spiny butt could fit through and the concrete is eight feet thick. Zone prisoners are considered highly dangerous. And usually, they don't get what they want."

"I'm not asking for me. I'm asking for you."

"There's got to be something in it for you. No way you care about me."
