Another morning without him

When will she get used to it?

Will she ever find another man

Who can love her like he did?

“You never loved me you say?”

Her lips curled into a smirk

A bitter tear found its way

Down her now pale cheek

“Tell that to the marines!

I am far from convinced.”

Her voice rang in her room

Did something she does

Only once in a blue moon–

Cursing the man she loves

“You confessed your love for me

In front of a great cheering crowd

Made me the happiest girl back then

But look at how wretched I am now.”

The sun hid behind the clouds

The clouds cried with her

Then, thunders roared outside

Her puppy, Daisy, ran to her

She welcomed her in her arms

The white Shih Tzu snuggled closer

Looked at her straight in the eye

Like saying, “You’ve got a friend.”

She smiled a bit

Then, remembered

“Baby, he gave me you

How could I forget?

“But…”

Something caught her eye

Again, making her cry

The red roses he last sent her

Are now withered in their vase

Their amazing scent of love

Like Albert, has gone away.
