A/N — I cut this chapter short because it wasn't really going anywhere. And just a disclaimer: unlike Tony, the reader doesn't blame Bucky for what happened to Howard and Maria Stark.

—— ——

You giggled quietly as Bucky pinned you against the wall in the kitchen at the Avengers compound. He kissed you fervently, groaning a little when you wrapped your legs around his waist, allowing him to hold you up. The pressure of his fingertips pressing into your thighs made you smile as you pulled away to rest your head on Bucky's shoulder, pressing one last kiss to his jaw.

"God, I missed you," he sighed, hugging you closer to him.

It was currently almost midnight and everybody else was in their rooms after returning from a stressful, intricate mission which had lasted for almost a week. The whole team was involved, meaning that you'd seen Bucky every single day, as usual – so technically, he had no reason to miss you, right?

Wrong. You were Tony's little sister and, playing the role of the overprotective big brother, he'd made damn certain that everybody in the tower knew you were off limits. But you couldn't help yourself, and neither could Bucky – you were in love with each other.

Your relationship was carefully hidden, of course – Tony would probably try to kill Bucky if he knew, especially given the rocky past between the two men. So during the mission, even though you were constantly around your boyfriend, you were never able to interact with him much, for fear of being found out.

It was your idea of hell.

"I missed you, too," you murmured, still smiling. You were about to lean up and kiss Bucky again, but a quiet shuffling sound distracted you. You tilted your head, listening intently.

Footsteps. Someone was approaching the kitchen – and you had about three seconds before they walked in and caught you red handed.

"Shit, shit, shit," you hissed, scrambling ungracefully out of Bucky's arms. In an attempt to seem normal, you quickly opened the fridge and pretended to be looking for a snack, while Bucky reached across to grab a bag of pretzels.

You inhaled sharply as Tony (out of all people) stepped into the room, suspicion immediately evident on his face. He glanced at you, raising an eyebrow.

"What are you doing up? And why are you with Manchurian candidate over there?"

You rolled your eyes at Tony's old nickname for Bucky, trying to inject as much sarcasm as possible into your voice as you answered. "Quit calling him that, tin man. And we just happened to walk in at the same time, why else would we both be here?"

Tony grumbled something under his breath before pouring himself a cup of coffee and heading out of the kitchen again, no doubt to spend the entire night in his lab.

Once you were sure that he wasn't coming back, you breathed a long sigh of relief and slammed the fridge door shut. Bucky discarded the bag of pretzels and smirked as you walked back over to where he was standing.

"That was close. We've gotta be more careful," you mumbled, before wrapping your arms around Bucky's neck. He smirked and snaked his right arm around your waist.

"My room, then?" he asked, tilting his head down to press a soft kiss to the top of your head.

"You don't have to ask me twice."
