Part 13

Brent woke up from his slumber and immediately looked at Marie's side of the bed.Upon seeing her already in a deep sleep, he reached out for his phone to check for the time. It was already two in the morning. He wondered what time she came back from the party, and so he browses for his messages. It was then he found out that she had left the party before midnight.

He put his phone back at the bedside table and propped his pillow in the headboard so his back could lean on it. He then looked at the mother and child beside him.

Looking at Marie, made him wonder why she kept his son from him when she knows he loves her so much at that time and will do anything for her.

"What had made her left him? Was it that guy the reason or something was going on that he never knew?"

The only person who can answer him is Marie, but until now, she tried to avoid any conversation that will bring back their past.

"What will be her reaction if she found out that her presence had made his orderly life chaotic? The forthcoming marriage that he had anticipated that will give him peace seems like it had become a shackle.

Lately, when he is with Amanda, his mind is guilty of cheating on her at the same time because Marie's occupied it. He kept thinking of what might have been."

A kick on his legs brought a smile to his brooding face. He then touched his son's foot and caressed it, his gaze then diverted to him. "In all that had happened, the one good thing on it is knowing that he has a child. His son's presence brought happiness to him, and he promises to give the best of the world to him."

He sighs after realizing it is time for him to go back to his room. The joy he felt of being with them made him reluctant to leave; hence he decided to stay for a while. He wanted to savor each moment that they are both with them and occasionally smile as his son did his acrobatic movement in bed while in a deep sleep.

Anne woke up and felt as if something is missing. Usually, Matt's head is on her chest or his legs on the part of her body. This time, she doesn't feel it, immediately she opened her eyes to search for him only to be confronted by the presence of Brent beside her.

Slowly she got up so as not to disturb him. It was then she saw Matt on the other side of him.

"No wonder she didn't feel Matt, he had moved around last night and ended on the other side of the bed."

For now, she will not say anything to Brent about him sleeping with them as he had taken care of Matt while she went to a party. She only shakes her head before looking at the watch on the wall. As it is past six, she got out of bed, and then went to the bathroom.

After brushing her teeth, she directly goes down to make breakfast without glancing on the occupant of the bed. She let them sleep as they want and will awaken them once she had prepared their breakfast.

She was already preparing the table when Brent and Matt went down.

"Mommy, what time did you come back last night?" Matt asked her after a kiss on her cheek.

What surprised her was him calling her Mommy for the first time. So she hugged him and kissed both his cheek.

" You had just fallen asleep when I arrived."

"Why you didn't wake me up?"

"It is because I saw you were sleeping soundly, I don't want to disturb your sleep and stops your growing. Remember, you said you want to grow up so you can come together with me to the party?"

Matt nods his head and then pulled out a chair, dismissing the topic. She then straightened herself and sit down beside him.

Last night before she left for the party, Matt was so insistent on going out with her too. When she told him, "the party was for big people only."
