Jotaro, Josuke, Okuyasu, and Jolyne are at a nearby restaurant. They all ordered a drink and sat at an outside table. Summer break has started up for Josuke and his friends. It was hot outside
"Thanks for watching Jolyne for me," Jotaro said to Josuke and Okuyasu. He gave both of them some money as payment. "I'm gonna be busy tomorrow as well. Can you watch her then as well?"
"We can do that," Josuke replied. She wasn't too much of a handful. She liked to watch "The Little Mermaid." and would ask Josuke and Okuyasu random questions from time to time. Other than that, she was okay.
"Thanks. I'll drop her off by your house tomorrow." Jotaro stood up from his chair. "C'mon Jolyne, let's go back home. You'll get to see Josuke and Okuyasu tomorrow. "
"Okay, daddy!" She hopped out of her chair as well and followed him into a taxi, where they would go home. They got in and told the taxi the location. Both of them began to drive off.
Jolyne looked at the window. Jotaro looked down, sometimes glancing at the window to see if they made it home yet. They made it home and were greeted by Kakyoin.
"Welcome home Jotaro!"
"Hey, Kakyoin. How are you?"
"I'm the same as usual. You?" Kakyoin cupped his hands together.
"Just tired." Jotaro yawned.
"Daddy? Who are you talking to?" Jolyne asked her dad. She tilted her head in confusion.
"I'm talking to Kakyoin."
"Your imaginary friend?"
"Yep. Daddy's imaginary friend." Jotaro tells her.
Jolyne goes into her room to play. Kakyoin looked over at Jotaro. "When will you ever tell her?"Kakyoin asked him.
"She's too young to know. I wish everyone could see you."
"I do too but maybe not like this," Kakyoin said as he pointed at the hole in his stomach.
"You get what I mean." Jotaro pulled out a cigarette. Kakyoin giggled a little. " I love you Jotaro, I wish I was alive, So I can hug you without passing through you."
"I love you too. It must be boring as a ghost."
"It kinda is. I can't do much of anything. I mean I can float and pass through walls and go unnoticed but there's nothing left for me. I'm a ghost. I'm dead.
"But at least I get to see you again. Have you seen Advol or Iggy?"
"Not really. I find that strange. Maybe they are in Eygpt, watching the city."
"Kakyoin, can I ask you something? Why is it that you always stick around me?"
"I have nobody else. You were my only friend."
Jotaro sighed. "I'm going to bed. Goodnight Kakyoin."
Kakyoin smiled. "Sweet dreams." He watched Jotaro walk away to his room. Kakyoin traveled to Jolyne's room. She had fallen asleep. She curled up in a ball in her blanket. Kakyoin smiled. He didn't care for children but he grew on her.
Kakyoin can't sleep. Or rather, he's unable to sleep. He would spend his nights either watching Jotaro or descending into the stary night sky and look out into the city. Nostalgia would hit him hard. He would cry sometimes. He wished to be alive. He took living for granted.
Kakyoin has died for a while now, 11 years ago when they fought and killed DIO. Kakyoin would always wonder If I didn't die, would they still have figured out DIO'S stand power? Kakyoin didn't know.
---
Jolyne was at the Higashikata residence with josuke and Okuyasu. Josuke and Okuyasu were cuddling in a blanket watching anime in the living room. Jolyne got bored and decided to pester them. "Josuke! Who does dad talk to all the time?"
"Huh?" Josuke paused the TV.
"When nobody's around, he talks to someone, he has conversions with nobody! He told me it's his imaginary friend but I don't get it."
Josuke and Okuyasu knew what she was talking about. They all have seen Jotaro talk to nobody. "I'm not sure either. I'll ask him about it okay? What does he say to them?"
"He says he loves them and misses them, He refers to them as 'Kakyoin'. Who is this Kakyoin?"
Josuke heard that name before. Neither Okuyasu or Josuke knew. Jotaro wasn't one to speak about his past easily but when he does, he talks for a while. They would just have to find out themselves. Jolyne went away to play.
---
"Thanks again. I have tomorrow off so you don't have to watch over her." Jotaro said as Jolyne ran towards him, giving him a tight hug. They were outside the restaurant they met last time.
"No problem but if you don't mind. I need to talk to you about something. Just you and us."
Jotaro's eyes widened, then closed halfway. "Jolyne. Here's some money. Go buy some ice cream for us."
"Okay! What flavor do you want?" Jolyne said with a happy tone.
"Chocolate."
Jolyne nodded as she ran over to the ice cream parlor next door to the restaurant.
"What is it? Did she get into trouble?"
"No, but she asked us both about your, um, friend."
Jotaro's expression was surprised. "What did she say?"
"She asked us who they were. She was concerned for you. She heard you call them 'Kakyoin.' "
Jotaro looked sad. That's all it took was that one word. Kakyoin Jotaro bit his lip and stared at the floor. "He was my best friend. He died 11 years ago. I see his ghost following me. He talks to me. He hears me. I can still see him. He's behind you both. He looks sad. He can't see anyone but people he had a close connection to in his past life. Not everyone sees him."
"Oh.' Okuyasu says. Okuyasu scratches his head. "I'm sorry for your loss."
"I am too, but shouldn't you tell Jolyne this? She's worried about you."
Jotaro sighed. "Fine." Jolyne came back with 2 ice creams, both chocolate. She handed one to her dad. She was licking away at hers. "Thanks, dad!"
"Jolyne. I need to tell you something."
"What is it?" She tilted her head in curiosity.
"You know how I talk to nobody sometimes?"
She nodded her head.
"I have a friend who died 11 years ago. His name was Kakyoin. His ghost follows me around and we talk sometimes. He can't be seen by a lot of people. Kakyoin loves you. He looks over the both of us." Jotaro looked over to Kakyoin. Kakyoin was smiling and gave him a thumbs up. Jotaro smiled back.
"Ooh." Jolyne didn't really have a reaction. More shocked than anything.
"Let's go home."
