Chapter 49.
Royal coronation.

It was finally the day for Jinheung's coronation. Queen Ji-so was to abdicate the throne today for her son. All the members of the royal council, Prince Hwi-gyeong, the two Won Hwas: Princess Sook-myeong and Ah-ro were assembled in the throne room.

Soo-ho escorted the Queen into the room before standing in line with the others. King Jinheung entered, dressed in royal wear that made him look like the King of Silla, escorted by Pa-oh and Sa-do. Sa-do stopped near the entrance and bowed to him before joining Soo-ho as Ji-dwi walked up to the throne.

As Kim Seub was about to crown the new King, Park Young-shil stopped him. "I, Silla's Gakan, believe that a different Sacred Bone, Seon-woo, Hwi-gyeong Gong's son, should be crowned King."

The doors to the throne room opened as the entire Hwarang marched in, with Seon-woo leading the front. They looked beautiful yet intimidating, being the fierce, independent warriors that Seonmoon had molded them into. Sa-do and Soo-ho joined the ranks, standing a few steps behind either side of Seon-woo.

"Today, the Hwarang has selected a King for the future," Sa-do declared loudly, meeting her father's eyes. Park Young-shil smiled, looking victorious. She was followed by Soo-ho's, "we Hwarang, in this place, would like to pledge allegiance before His Majesty who will listen to his people and make Silla strong." The entire Hwarang knelt down, bowing their heads.

Seon-woo took a step forward. "Hwarang! With the spirit of Silla, pledge your allegiance for Silla and the lord of Silla!" He wielded his sword and held it up. "Long live His Majesty Jinheung!" The Hwarang echoed his shout boisterously.

Everyone looked shocked. The ministers on the side of the rebellion realized that they had been double crossed and betrayed. In one swift motion, Seon-woo turned, his sword landing on Park Young-shil's throat making the old man's eyes widen in shock.

"Traitor Park Young-shil, who planned a rebellion aimed at his Majesty's life, receive your punishment for your sins," he declared. Ban-ryu and Sa-do couldn't refrain from throwing a helpless glance at Gakan. He was after all, their father.

The other corrupt councilors looked at their Gakan fearfully. "Also," Seon-woo continued, "if anyone else has the same sentiments as this man, step forward now. The swords of Hwarang will never forgive." All the ministers, including Park Young-shil, lowered their heads respectfully for their new King.

...

The coronation was completed in the palace courtyard. Wielding the sword, the King vowed, "I, Silla's King, Jinheung, together with the Hwarang, will think of the subjects first and lead a strong Silla with a plan for a thousand years!" His oath was followed by loud cheers from the Hwarang as the Queen looked on at her son with a proud smile and Pa-oh gazed at His Majesty with moist eyes.

...

The very next day, Seon-woo and Ban-ryu paid Park Young-shil a visit. Gakan came to meet his visitors and his eyes narrowed when he saw it was his adopted son and the Sacred Bone who betrayed him and foiled all his plans. "What do you want?"
