Chapter 6: Special Place

"The red convertible! Wow you really are going all out tonight 'Sami. You like never drive this car. You wouldn't even let me touch it until we had been dating for 3 months...and at that point I had known you for like 5 years." Asami had built this car from scratch with her dad before all the craziness started, before she ran into Mako with her moped that eventually brought her into Korra's life.

"Well I figured we should ride in style. Now get in." Korra did what she was told and hopped into the passengers side of the car. Once Asami was in and ready to go the looked at Korra and held her hand out. "Here put this on." "Really?a blindfold? Babe you know I don't like being blindfolded." Korra said giving a slight pout. "Oh so it's okay for you to blindfold me when you're having fun but I can't blindfold you?" She said smirking. "Look if you really don't wanna wear it you don't have to but you have to promise you won't open your eyes until I tell you to. Avatar promise. Besides don't you trust me?" Korra rolled her eyes took the blindfold and tied it over her head. "You know I trust you." "Good. It won't be that long so don't worry. And no peeking, you can take it off when I tell you."

Korra felt the car start up and go in reverse before pulling out to the street. She couldn't tell where they were going or how much time had passed. She just tried to relax and a listen to the faint sound of the radio. She felt the car slow down to a stop and turn off.

"Can I take my blindfold off now." A sharp no is all she got in return until she heard Asami's door open and close then she waited for her girlfriend to come get her out of her side. "You can take your blindfold off in like two minutes just be patient." Asami said guiding Korra where to walk with her arm.

Korra felt warmth around her and could hear the faint out of water running. "Okay now you can take it off." Asami said as she bit her lip and stood behind Korra. Korra slowly took her blindfold off and opened her eyes. It was beautiful. There was a blanket laid out on the grass with a couple picnic baskets and a bottle of wine on ice. There were candles in lanterns surrounding it lighting up the area. Behind there was a small slow running waterfall that led into a little pond.

Korra felt a rush of warmth and happiness in her heart. She turned around to look at a nervous Asami. "Asami this is beautiful." "Really you like it?" "I love it babe, it's everything I could ask for. How'd you find this place?" "Well when I got to work this morning I was thinking of what to do for you, then I remembered a drive I took a while back to clear my head. Remember when I came home telling you that I found a place I really wanted to show you?" "Yah but I thought it was like a new restaurant." Korra said looking around in awe at the beautiful scenery illuminated by the almost full moon. "Well this was the place. I called Bolin and asked him for a favor to set this up. I was a little nervous about letting him be in charge." Korra giggled "Well I think he did a good job." "Wanna sit down and have dinner with me?" "I'd love too." Korra said smiling taking Asami's hand in hers and walking over to the blanket to sit down.

Korra popped the bottle of wine and poured one glass for her and another glass for Asami. "So why the fancy attire." "Maybe I just wanted an excuse to see you in a tux." Asami said smiling and taking a sip of her drink. They started to chat about everything and anything. Korra told her an embarrassing story of her and a kid where she got the bright idea to challenge her dad to an eating contest. Needless to say she lost...and wound up being so sick she didn't train for two days after.

"Mom was so mad." She said giggling with tears in her eyes. "She wouldn't stop yelling at us for being so stupid. I think dad got the worst of it. She couldn't believe he actually excepted the challenge from a kid. She told him that it was his responsibility to take care of me while I was sick, but I wanted mom to comfort me more." She said with a small sigh. "You miss your family don't you?"

Korra sighed now thinking of that letter. She really did miss her family. All of her family. She hated not being able to have a normal life sometimes. Korra answered with honesty "Yah I do, but you're my family to Asami." She said grabbing her hand and giving a small but weak smile. "You're my family too Korra. You're all I have left. I'm so happy that Senna and Tonraq welcomed me into your family with open arms." Korra's heart sank a little. She hated seeing her girlfriend so sad. She wanted to be enough for her but she knew Asami was always gonna feel a hole in her heart no matter how much they built their family. But Korra knew that Asami's family was about to get a little bigger.

"Hey 'Sami?" "Yah?" "I have some news I need to tell you. I-I don't know how you'll react." Asami saw how nervous Korra was. She wasn't even looking at her. Instead her face was locked on the ground. Asami cupped Korra's face in her hands and brought her head up so she could look directly in her eyes. "Baby whatever it is it's okay." "Just promise you won't leave me once I tell you."

Asami was starting to worry. "Baby did you cheat on me?" "W-what?! No! Asami you know I would never do that! I love you. I want to be with you and only you." "Are you getting deployed for another dangerous mission that could get you killed?" "No." Korra answered with a soft voice. "Okay then we have nothing to worry about. Now come on." Asami said as she stood up and held her hand out for Korra. "You can tell me another day. It can't be important enough where you can't wait a couple hours. If it was you would've already told me. So let's go home and get some rest." Korra and her started bringing what was left to the car, Korra caring most of it.

She couldn't help but feel like she should tell Asami now, but her significant other was right. It could wait a few more hours. They shared a few kisses under the moonlight before they were ready to get in the car. "I call shotgun!" "Korra when there are only two people you don't have to scream shotgun." Asami said shaking her head.

They shared a few kisses under the moonlight before the hot in the car had a nice drive home. Both of them layed in bed and fell asleep quickly holding each other close. Happy that they had found someone on this earth that gets them and love them wholeheartedly.
