Sam was beaming with joy at the fact that he'd made a friend, he and Jake eventually went inside and to their parents who drank tea. They passed them, going to Sam's room where the blonde handed Jake a pair of joggers and a t-shirt before getting himself clothes.

They both changed, Sam went in his bathroom as Jake changed in his room. Sam stood in the bathroom a moment after changing, he had a fear of walking out before Jake was finished getting dressed.

After Sam waited and confirmed Jake was done dressing, he walked out to his room where Jake stood with a smile. They both sat on the blondes bed, smiling and tossing jokes or stories back and forth. "So, you've really never had a friend?"

Sam just nodded, "Yeah, I've just always been here. No ones really been around to talk to."

"Well, I'll be your friend. If you want.. I could come over more?" Jake asked hesitantly, he was a little nervous but almost confident Sam liked him.

"Definitely." The two exchanged phone numbers, afterwards Jake and his parents left for home as Sam smiled to him mom. He wrapped her in a hug, she hugged back a even she'd a tear. "He's my friend mom."

"I'm proud of you, so proud." She kissed his blonde hair, noticing it was wet and let out a laugh. "Your hairs wet."

"Oh! We went swimming." Sam smiled, she just nodded until Sam went wide eyed. "Shoot, he forgot his clothes, and he has mine."

"Well, you're friends right? You'll hang out again, just exchange then. For now, shower you fish. You smell like the ocean." His mother laughed, he laughed along with her then darted up the stairs to shower.

Once he was done, he got the washed and dried clothes from the laundry room and put them away as well as Jake's for when he comes back over. After grabbing a quick snack of crackers before laying on his bed and watching YouTube.

As he was caught up in a video, he paused it when he heard a faint "Hello!?" from outside. He furrowed his eyebrows and clicked off his phone before running downstairs. His parents were sat in the living room, watching some television show so he knew it wasn't them.

He walked into the kitchen, looking out at the beach and smiling at the sunset. His smiled dropped when he saw a shirtless boy with his head buried in his hands, he was in the water a bit of a ways out but not that far.

Darting out the door, Sam ran down the path and to the beach. He stopped, his jaw dropped and his eyes widened when he saw a beautiful shiny blue fin as his lower half. Sam gasped to himself, he couldn't believe his eyes.

Sam walked to the crying boy, slowly until he reached the water. He knew he'd have to make noise, he guided his feet through the water slowly. It covered his ankles now, and he was halfway to the hunched over boy.

"E-E-Excuse me?" Sam stuttered out, the brunette boy spun around to face him and his eyes went wide with shock. Sam almost melted at the beauty of the boy, his blue tipped hair fell perfectly on his forehead as his blue eyes matched the darker parts of the ocean, they were something you could get lost in if you stared too long.

The finned boy jumped back and went out deeper, he   swam there in shock as Sam took another step out then stopped moving. "Wh-What.. are you..?" Sam asked, he couldn't stop his eyes from trailing around the boys body.

"I-It's you.." The finned boy spoke, his voice made Sam jump a little but he quickly regained composure. "Blonde boy.."

Sam didn't understand what he meant, of course he'd been blonde but it didn't explain what was happening, or what he was. "M-My name i-is Sam, uhm.. I-I saw you c-crying and was.. worried." Sam gulped, taking another risky step forward which made the other boy move back a little. "Sh-Should I stay here?"

The brunette with blue tips just smiled, "I-I'm Colby. I've seen you.. I-I've.." Colby stuttered over his words, he didn't believe he was actually talking to the blonde boy. "I'm a m-mermaid, w-well th-thats the female version b-but merman I-I guess."

Sam just stared silently, he didn't mean to but it was astonishing. "Th-This is amazing..C-Can I.. come closer?" Colby just nodded, Sam began walking closer and eventually was in the water to his hips. Not being able to stand made it so Colby looked up at him, this changed when Sam bent down to match Colby's height and began hovering in the water. "Wow.." His jaw quite literally dropped, he looked down to his tail again and couldn't stop.

"Y-You can t-touch it.. i-if you want.. It feels like a f-fish.." Colby giggled at his own words near the end, but clamped his jaw shut to refrain it. Sam sunk his hand in the water, the fin was as Colby explained- like a fish. It had a smily feeling to it, but it was beautiful. "Legs..." Colby mumbled, looking at Sam's bottom limbs that were floating in the water beneath him.

Sam looked at his own legs, then back up to the merman. "Never seen legs before?" Colby shook his head, after that Sam did the most ballsy thing he'd ever done and grabbed the creatures hand to lay it on one of his legs.

"Woah." Colby got a little carried away, lifting Sam's one leg quickly in awe causing Sam to fall back in the water with a splash. He came up and gasped for air, laughing a little and wiping his face. "I-I'm sorry!"

"It's okay, really." Sam said, laughing a little more. He ran a hand through his wet hair and moved back down to the height of the brunette haired boy. "I-Is the blue natural?" Sam asked, eyeing Colby's blue tipped hair.

"Mhm, blue is my color I guess you could say." He said, smiling lightly at the blonde.

Sam just smiled, hesitant at first but then going for it as he brushed his fingers along the blue hair. Colby just smiled under the boys touch, the touch he's been longing for.

"Samuel! Sam! Are you out here!" The blonde heard his mothers shaky voice from the house, she was probably worried.

"I-I have to go, c-can I see you again?" He asked quickly.

Colby nodded, smiling and swimming out a little ways deeper, "Tomorrow, I'll be here at sunset!" He called out before diving under the water and swimming away.

Sam watching in awe, he couldn't stop thinking it was all some crazy dream. He ran up to the house where his mother lectured him for a good fifteen minutes before he changed his clothes for a second time and laid in bed.

As he stared at his ceiling, he felt way to excited for tomorrow. It was unbelievable, he knew though that he wouldn't be able to tell anyone because they'd think he was crazy. Or if they saw Colby they'd freak out and take him from the ocean, some crazy scientist things would happen.

His eyes drifted shut slowly, his mind wouldn't stop thinking of the finned boy named Colby.

The beautiful finned boy named Colby.
