Something was happening. Something unpleasant. The hair of my skin stood from the disturbing feeling I have.

A violent sound came from the man's mouth overpowering the scream of the girl who proclaimed to be a priestess awhile ago. Her life slowly slipping from her eyes as she cried in pain, and soon her tears came to a stop.

"I. . . I need more blood," the man said in grueling sound as he pulls the dagger out of the dead girl's heart.

I just noticed that the dagger that the man was holding was no ordinary dagger. A cursed item.

Quickly, I pulled the necklace with a force that I thought I almost break my neck. I noted to myself that shouldn't have acted cool if I was going to get hurt in the end.

The child flinched and unconsciously moved closer to me knowing that he was next to be sacrifice. Taking the muted child's trembling hand, I gave him my necklace.

"Never let go of it," I said in a whisper before he was taken away.

He looked at me with a frightened face. I made sure to express no emotion as the boy tries to get back to me, with his free hand extending towards me.

Gripping my hands together I hoped that the protection stone will protect him. Lucas wouldn't give me a fake one, right?

Before the boy could get near the altar the man with the dagger jumped towards him piercing the weapon to his heart. But it never touched the child's skin nor his dirty clothes. He was covered by a transparent light of color blue.

"What the hell?!"

"RUN!" I screamed.

Startled at my sudden shout, the person who was holding the child loosen his grip that the boy slipped away and run.

"Don't look back and keep running!" I continued to yell when I saw his hesitation.

No one caught him as the door closes leaving me alone with five men.

"Let him escape, he's just a mute boy from a slum. No one will listen to him and if someone who actually does it will be too late," the leader said to his men. A nasty smile crept on his face and looked at me with his already black eyes. "We still have another sacrifice left."

He's becoming a demon. Or I could say that the evil spirit that was imprisoned inside the dagger was taking over his body.

"Search her if she has another protection stone with her and bring her to me," he ordered and I was quickly brought to the center aisle after searching thoroughly that I felt molested. "You're quite a beauty, girl. A quite of money will fall to my hand if I sell you."

"Too bad, I have to die," I said staring at his black void eyes, unafraid.

The man laughed loudly that it reverberated around the old church. "That's right! You are no fool like that soon to be priestess. Tell me, pretty girl, why did you gave your protection stone to some useless child and didn't save yourself?"

"It doesn't matter, does it?"

"Kuhahaha! I guess it doesn't. Then die for me, pretty girl!"

The moment the dagger was closing to my chest I moved missing my heart by an inch.

But it still hurts.

I remembered when I was still a Holy Maiden, I was busy tending the wounded knights when a spy acting as a nurse stab me from behind with a cursed weapon. But the spy's hardship went to vain because curse weapon has no effects on me. It was just like any ordinary weapon.

I wonder if it's still valid even I was a mortal.

I coughed a mouthful of blood. "You missed, fucker," I said trying to keep myself from falling.

I guess it doesn't matter if the curse would spread or not. I'll die then without any regrets. I save a child after all.
