Thorin and Company is a group of 14 dwarves, one Maiar, and one hobbit. You are the spouse of Kili, another one of the 14 dwarves. And since you were married to him, of course you decided to join the Company.

The Company is on a quest to take back Erebor, which was the home of most of the dwarves long ago. You, and a few other dwarves, never lived in Erebor, but you were still willing to take it back.

Often, the Company would face enemies, including orcs, goblins, and even trolls. At one point, you were going to be eaten by trolls, until Gandalf, the Maiar, rescued you and the rest of the company.

The large amount of trouble you guys got into really worried you. What if your husband died because an orc attacked him? What if you died in an attack? Nobody knew what was going to happen in the future.

You were very stressed about this. Every night, you would go to sleep worrying about the fates of everyone. Many of the other dwarves were most likely fine.

Maybe you were being a baby. It seemed like it to you. You thought about how you shouldn't have tagged along. This was no place for a baby.

This quest was for people who are brave.

You thought about going back home many times. What stopped you from going back was the thought that you are most likely going to get lost.

Tonight, Thorin and Company decided to rest. It was clear that several people needed sleep.

There was a lit fire, and all of the Company sat around it, eating. You decided that instead of eating by the fire, you'd just sit away from the group.

You were usually with everyone else, but tonight is different. Obviously, Kili noticed that you were gone and walked up to you.

"Dear, what are you doing just sitting around?" Kili asked. "You're usually with us."

"I'm just feeling uneasy, that's all." you explained. Your husband sat next to you to give you company.

"What is making you uneasy?"

"I'm very scared that I'll lose you, or that you'd lose me." you answered. "And all of this worrying makes me realize that I'm not at all brave and I should leave."

Kili furrowed his eyebrows. "Not brave? That's not very true! Come on, you fought some goblins. And you didn't completely panic whenever the trolls almost ate us!" he said. "Not a lot of people can do that."

"You think so?"

"I know so."

Some of the others who were sitting by the fire were watching you two. "Hey, you guys better not have too much fun!" Bofur joked. You chuckled at the remark.

"So, anyways..." Kili continued. "Let's make a promise."

You had a confused look on your face. "Are you about to promise me that you won't die? You do realize that you cannot do that, don't you?"

The dwarf sighed. "No, I can't. And I know that. I'm not an idiot, you know!" He picked up a stone to fidget with it. "Let's promise to stay with each other no matter what. We'll stick together."

You nodded. "Now that's a promise I can make."

The two of you sighed and looked out into the distance. It was a very peaceful night. This made you zone out and remember the times where you were very young, and you made a similar promise to Kili.

Flashback
You and your best friend, Kili were playing hide and seek. It was his turn to find you, and you had found a really good hiding spot. He'll never find you.

And you were correct. He didn't find you. It had been an hour since you two started the round.

The fact that he couldn't find you made you a little worried. Where could he be? Did he give up and go home? You teared up and began to cry.

However, your crying session was interrupted by another noise. It sounded like a little dwarf crying.

"Hello!?" you called out.

"Y/n... Is that you!?" the crying dwarf shouted. You ran over to the voice and it turns out that it was Kili.

"Kee!? I thought you gave up and went home!" You wrapped your arms around your best friend.

"I couldn't find you! I was so scared." Kili said. "I'm so glad to see you."

"Me, too!"

Kili looked at the ground and then looked back up at you. "I think we need to promise something..."

You tilted your head. "A promise? What is it?"

"The promise is... that we'll never play this game again. I really suck at it."

"Aw, man! I love playing hide and seek!"

"Fine. That's not the promise. Maybe we should pinky promise to always be best friends forever and that we should always be with each other. Unless were playing hide and seek!" Kili said.

"I like that promise!" you said. "So do you promise that?"

"Yes I do."

"Yay! We'll be best friends FOREVER!"

The two of you then hugged. It was so exciting that you were going to be best friends for the rest of your lives!

Then, Kili's brother Fili came outside and saw you two hugging. "Ooooh, Kili found a girl!" he teased.

"No, we are not together like that!" Kili exclaimed. "We just promised that we will be best friends forever."

"Haha, I bet you will kiss her soon!" Fili joked.

"Ewww!" you yelled. Kili was blushing quite a bit.

"Stop it, Fili! We're only best friends!" Kili said. "And kissing is gross. I don't want to kiss anyone!"

"Oh, sure!" Fili said. "I'm gonna tell mother that you are in love!" The blond dwarf began running to tell his mom.

"No, Fili!" Kili said, before you and him chased after Fili. This seemed to be the greatest day ever.
End flashback

Little did the two of you know, the promise was to be broken, and you would be way more than best friends with Kili.

Kili then tapped your shoulder and whispered, "Psst, let's mess with Fili. It'll help you feel better!"

You smiled and whispered, "Okay, let's go." Your husband took your hand and ran to the fire, so you can mess with his brother.

While you bothered Fili, you thought about how lucky you were to be married to Kili. You knew that you were very lucky.
