Chapter 10

GET READY FOR THE FEELS! 

I woke up with a smile on my face today and I couldn’t wipe it off, as hard as I tried; I was going on a date with Chase Harper today.

“Why the smiley face?” my mom laughed as I walked into the kitchen with a spring in my step, I giggled as I kissed her cheek and grabbed an apple from the fridge. 

“I’m going on a date today.” I muttered, she nearly dropped her fork at the mention of this. She looked at me with shock written all over her face, along with excitement and a whole other bunch of emotions 

“Who with?” she said excitedly, but in the back of my mind, she already knew, she just wanted me to say it 

“Chase.” I whispered before dropping the rest of the apple in the garbage can and grabbing some greek yogurt along with some granola from the fridge, I also sprinkled some honey on top. 

“He finally asked you out?” she said with excitement laced in her voice, I nodded softly and she smiled widely at me “Where is he taking you?” she asked and I shrugged

“He didn’t say.” I said as I munched on my granola, seconds later my phone buzzed in my pocket and I smiled instantly when I saw it was Chase texting me

“Afternoon beautiful, Ashley will be picking you up for our date in two hours (don’t want to ruin the surprise!) Wear something comfortable, I’ll be waiting for you. x” 

“Guess I better start getting ready.” I said as I tucked my phone away in my pocket and grinned at my mom

“Want me to help you?” she asked softly and my heart warmed. What would I ever do without my mom?

“Please, because I have no idea what to wear!” I said with a laugh as I grabbed her hand and pulled her into my bedroom so she could help me get ready

Two hours later, I was fully dressed and with minimal makeup, I was wearing my Sperry’s along with my back skinny jeans and a teal coloured blouse, my hair was naturally wavy so I left it down. I smiled at me appearance in the mirror and I swear I saw my mom tear up in my peripheral vision, I heard the doorbell ring, indicating that was Ashley, I ran downstairs with my mom trailing behind me, I opened the door and beamed once I saw Ashley, she squealed and hugged me tightly, jumping slightly

“Eek! It’s finally happening!” she squealed, her voice filled with excitement “I can’t believe it, you look… and Chase…” she rambled and I laughed, resting my hands on her shoulders

“Don’t you worry, I’ll set you up with Jase sooner or later.” I said, winking at her playfully, she groaned and pulled a strand of my hair “What are you, five?” I laughed and she groaned

“I didn’t want to hit you because you look so pretty.” she squealed and I rolled me eyes as I linked arms with her “Do you have mints, Cell Phone on full charge, lip gloss?” she rambled and I rolled my eyes playfully

“Gosh, you sound worse than my mother.” I said softly, she pulled my hair again “Stop!” I yelled and she laughed, I turned back to my mom and kissed her cheek “I’ll be back at 12.” I reassured her and she waved me off

“Don’t worry about the time, sweetie.” she laughed “Just have a good time.” she said, readjusting my hair “But no later than two.” she warned and I nodded as I hugged her tightly

“I love you.” I whispered and she nodded

“I love you too sweetheart, now go!” she laughed “Don’t want to keep your date waiting.” she winked, I felt Ashley tug on my arm as she dragged me over to her car
