BE CONSCIOUS OF WHITE PRIVILEGE. BE CONSCIOUS OF WHAT YOU SAY AND WHAT YOU DO.
CHANGE STARTS WITH YOU. WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO HELP? HOW ARE YOU INFLUENCING CHANGE?
I'm sure a lot of you are very distressed seeing footage of the protests and police brutality that is taking the world by storm. We should feel distressed. We should feel angry. We should feel guilty. Black people have suffered the most segregation and hate crimes in all of human history and that hasn't stopped. George Floyd's death has sparked protest for change, but his death is one of thousands of innocent lives destroyed by police brutality that DEMAND JUSTICE. Police are not above the law. Being a police officer does not allow you to decide who lives and who dies.As a white woman I have lived in an unaware state of how my being white has given me so many more opportunities than that of our black brothers and sisters. In Australia, we are guilty of the genocide of a culture. We must remain responsible for the acts of our ancestors. One day of apology does not make up for the centuries of incarcerations and slaughter of thousands of indigenous Australian lives. I know I will never understand but I will stand. I will stand with the people who deserve better lives. Who deserve apologies for centuries of abuse and torture and slavery. The BLACK LIVES MATTER 2020 movement is making history and WILL be taught in schools and WILL be spoken of for decades to come. What are you going to say you did? Did you hide behind your computer or in your homes because you didn't know what you could do? Or did you march, did you educate, did you donate, did you sign petitions, did you protest on social media, did you advocate for change, did you call people out for racism? CHANGE IS COMING AND WE ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE HATE CRIMES BLACK PEOPLE AND POC HAVE SUFFERED UNDER THE HANDS OF WHITE SUPREMACY.INJUSTICE ANYWHERE IS INJUSTICE EVERYWHERE.DO YOUR BIT AND SUPPORT A MOVEMENT THAT DEMANDS JUSTICE!BLACK LIVES MATTER
