"So, the Lockwoods really have no idea that these tunnels are underneath their property?" Elena asks, following behind Alaric as I follow behind her.

"Creepy." I mumble, looking around the dark tunnel, pointing my flashlight to the ceiling.

"Careful where you shine that thing. Bats hate the light." Alaric warns, looking back at me.

"huh?" I ask before a faint voice behind me whispers.

"Scarlett"

My head snaps to behind me.

"Boo!" I jump, dropping the flashlight with a gasp and looking up to find a smirking Damon.

"Jesus Christ." I say, pushing Damon chest and trying to catch my breath.

"Scaredy-cat." He says with a smirk as I glare up at him.

"Just ignore him. That's what I do." Alaric comments making Damon roll his eyes again.

"So, you really can't get in?" Elena asks, as Damon moves past me and her and we continued walking.

"No. Seems even the ancient Lockwoods were anti-vampire." He says.

"What do you mean, ancient?" Elena asks.

"See for yourself." He then gestures forward.

"Well, this is as far as I get to go." Damon announces, allowing me and Elena to walk past him to Alaric.

We shine our flashlight towards the cave walls to see many detailed carvings. My mouth falls open in amazement.

"What is all this?"

"Well, as far as I can tell, it's a story. In simple, archaeological terms, it's a really, really old story." Alaric explains.

"That right there, is the moon cycle. A man, a wolf." He says pointing to the drawings.

"A werewolf." I state.

"Yeah, it's the "Lockwood Diaries: Pictionary-Style." Damon muses from behind us making me scoff and glance at him in annoyance.

"I don't understand. I thought the Lockwoods came here with the Original Founders in the 1860s." Elena says.

"I don't know. Maybe the Lockwoods did, but according to this wall, these werewolves have been here a lot longer than that." Alaric says, still examining.

"How long?" I ask.

"Long. It gets better. Show em, Ric." Damon says.

"Names. They're not native. They're written in Runic, a Viking script."

"Vikings?"

"This name here, I translated it and it reads Niklaus." He says pointing to a word in a different language.

"Klaus." I say.

"And Elijah...and Rebekah." He continues pointing to the words.

"These are the names of the Original Family?" I ask.

"Carved into a cave that's been here since way before the founding of Mystic Falls. Or even the entire New World, for that matter." Alaric says, making my eyebrows furrow.

"Okay, this has gotta be one of Klaus's fakes, right?" Elena asks.

"That's what I said." Damon says.

"That could be true, except the last name up here made us think otherwise." He says pointing to the last name.

"What's the name?" I ask.
