Chapter 1: A Travel Around the World ✈️

Kimberly's POV
I can't believe I'm finally here. I've always wanted to visit South korea, it has always been my childhood dream. My name is Kimberly Young but my friends call me Kim, I've always loved that name because it sounded Asian. The city was sunny because it was summer time. I was in the bus with my best friend headed to her home. We met back in Los Angeles and we've been friends ever since. I admired the beautiful sights of Seoul. The city looked so shiny like a carol night on Christmas eve, it looked like a mini heaven in July. I glanced through the window admiring the city sights and Sun was happy to be back home. After a long journey through the city we got to Sun's place, she had retained it before we got here. Her full name was Ku Hye Sun but I loved to call her Sun. She clicked on the light as we struggled to get our luggages into the house. It looked neat for a empty house. It had one bathroom,one bedroom, one living room and a detached kitchen beside the living room
"Sun I'm so glad to finally be here. Thanks for bringing me along. You don't know how happy you've made me by making my dream come true" I said hugging her from behind.
I was brown skinned and looked different from Sun but she didn't care and I loved her for that.
"I know its been your childhood dream and I'm glad you're here with me." Sun replied
"When do I get to meet your family Sun?" I was curious to know
"I thought we were past that?" Sun cautioned.
"Sooner or later you're gonna open up to me, I thought we promised each other no secrets, we're best friends" I said holding her arm and she gave a light sigh
"The most important thing we need to worry about is how we're going to survive from now on, I know my home town may seem nice and beautiful but its all worthless without food or water. We need to pay the bills and feed" Sun said in a motherly manner
"Easy mom Gothel, you don't have to remind me about that, hehe. Just remember to wake me up early so I don't sleep in" I told her
"Oh I will" Sun replied mischievously.
Sun got the job from a friend over here so we don't starve to death when get to South Korea.
"Man I love this country" I was so happy
"I know u do" Sun noticed my excitements.
The next morning Sun woke up pressing the pillow against my head lightly. She raised and pillow up and smiled brightly at me.
"Rise and shine sleepy head" She said to me
"Is it morning already?" I asked yawning
"Its 5:00am, we need to be at work by 6:30am.Not a minute after" She ranted while I scratched my ear
"That early?, no wonder it took this country few years to be beautiful"I teased
"We're busy bees, Rome wasn't built in a day,so when you're in Korea act like one. Now get up we don't wanna piss our new boss off" Sun said dragging me from the bed
"Alright, Mom Gothel" I mocked
We had already arranged the house a little the previous night,we took our bath and headed to work without eating breakfast and luckily we we're 2 minutes early. We both wore the same set of blue jeans but different blouses.We liked to look like twins but she wore a pink blouse and I always thought pink looks childish so I wore a navy blue blouse.
Sun's friend got us a job in a big and classy cafe where only rich people could afford. At first, Sun told me back in Los Angeles that they might find it difficult to hire me because of our racial differences but I begged her to convince them and they agreed.
The manager understood English so I was able to communicate with him. After he spoke with Sun, he turned to my direction giving me a stern look.
"Welcome to Kim's and family" Mr.Hyung said handing an apron to me, I nodded my head slightly
"Its a big chance we're giving you. Don't blow this off" He said with a fluent accent
I nodded
"I promise not to disappoint, sir" I added as he directed us to where we are supposed to start working.
I was getting good at it because I was a waitress back home. I and Sun worked together. The people looked sophiscated and were surprised to see a brown skinned woman working as a waitress there. I returned to where Sun was, she was preparing the orders I was to deliever to the rich customers at their respective tables. She gave me a cup of coffee to take as breakfast.
"I'm glad they gave us something while we are working,lord I'm famished" I complained
"Koreans are considerate Kim" She boasted and I gave have her an awkward look, but she only smiled back
Suddenly a group of handsome "princes" came through the revolving door. They were three, one had a shiny brown hair, the second had an ebony black and amazingly long hair packed in a pony tail and the one in the middle which looked like the leader had blonde and curly hair,he looked more handsome and stylish than the other two. Seeing them at first sight made it look like I was watching a poke man anime.
"I can't believe this anime is so real" I said to Sun, I was fascinated by their beauty
"The one with brown hair by the right was the one who got us this job" Sun said to me
"You didn't tell me your friend was this handsome" While I was talking I noticed something strange
As they approached a table by the broad window, the young group of friends seated there stood up, it was like they were scared of them even though they were rich like them.
"What's that about?" I asked Sun
"They are the most powerful set of aristocrats in this area" Sun told me
"That makes them rude?" I asked curiously
"Mind your business and go take their order" Sun instructed and I gasped by what she had just said to me
"Rude, mother Gothel" I said as I grabbed the menu and headed for their table
"I'm here to take your order,what would u like? I asked them, the one with the brown hair gave me a stare and the blonde guy said something in Korean,then the one with black hair gave him a reply
"I said...I'm here to take your order what..." as I tried to repeat myself the one with the blonde hair interrupted me
"I'm not deaf. We heard you loud and clear." He said, apparently he spoke fluent English then he stood up and shouted at me in Korean. The manager and Sun ran out to see what was going on,it seemed like the guy was calling out to them. The manager tried to calm him down while Sun tried to ask me what was going on.
"I was just trying to take their order, then he got mad" I explained but the blonde guy got more furious
"Who employed her, I can't have a rude servant serve me" he said pompously, that made me mad
"Excuse me?" I said to him with a fierce tone, Sun tried to calm me down
"Calm down Kim,you don't wanna offend him" She pleaded
"Who does he think he is?" I whispered to her but the blonde guy heard me
"I'm the owner of this cafe and you're fired" He said harshly
The one with the black hair smiled evily but the one with the brown hair tried to touch him (the blonde) to change his mind. He seemed different from the other two.
"What,you can't fire me?" I said in a shocked tone
"Apparently I can" He said smiling evily
The manager turned to me "I'm sorry, he's my boss. I have to do as he says" The manger said
I felt sad and surprised at what just happened. The blonde guy insulted me in Korean, i understood him because Sun taught me a little Korean.
"Did u just call me an ugly duckling?" I asked him throwing my apron at his face
"Who do you think you are?" He asked angrily
"Your worst nightmare" I replied heading behind the cafe to get my things.
"I'm sorry about this. I'll come back as soon as I can" I heard Sun said to the manager as she came over accompany me home.
We got home that noon disappointed with what had happened, She tucked me on the floor because I was feeling low and sad. We just got here so we couldn't afford to get chairs just yet.
"I'm sorry I disappointed you Sun.I didn't mean to cause trouble for you"I apologized to her
"I understand, he was rude. He's just a spoilt brat who got lucky and was allowed to control his father's company" She explained
"He has a company?" I was surprised
"The cafe is just a family investment, the one I called my friend is his cousin and the cynical one with the black and amazingly long hair is my friend's brother" she explained
"You knew them" I was curious to know
"We were all close once. But that was along time ago" She said
"Ok, I have to get back so I don't get fired too.Will you be okay on your own?" Sun was concerned,I nodded in assurance.
"I'll try to convince the manager and my friend to change his brother's mind" She said to me
"Please it isn't necessary" I replied
"It is if you wanna make it easy for me. You need a job and that's the only one job we can wrap our head around" She said heading out. I watched her as she closed the door behind her.
