"Remember when you tried to kill my brother." I say dryly, glaring at the man.

"Lets not bring up the past." He says in response, in his usual patronizing tone.

"Literally hours ago." I say, my mouth slightly agape. Klaus only shrugs with a small smirk.

"You think I'd actually get your brother killed? Very foolish for such a smart girl." He says, turning to take a sip of the bourbon he had ordered moments after arriving, despite my protests.

"Your reputation tells me otherwise." I say, now turning in my seat to face the man who was already doing the same.

"I was sending a message. It wouldn't have gone farther than I would have let it." He speaks, his eyes meeting mine. He was serious, his voice wasn't patronizing or sarcastic.

I feel my demeanor slightly soften at this comment. I attempt to catch myself before he notices. But I know he does.

"And how far were you planning for it to go?" I ask, my eyes not leaving Klaus's. Remember that whole like entranced thing, this is what I meant.

"Nothing drastic, love. Wouldn't wanna upset you. Although it seems someone else has already done that." He says as I roll my eyes.

"Yaknow, before the whole daggered thing, me and Rebekah had a long chat." I say, changing the topic of the conversation as I picked up my cold glass.

"You two get along, do you?" He asks with an eyebrow raised and his usual smirk.

"We did, momentarily. Not sure how she'll feel after knowing I watched my sister dagger her..." I trail off, hearing a low chuckle from Klaus. "I know you haven't undaggered her, but I hope you plan on doing so." I say, meeting his eyes again.

"And why is that?"

"She deserves an apology. And to go to a high school dance. She doesn't deserve another ninety years in a casket." I say. Klaus's smirk is soon wiped away and his features soften slightly. A genuine smile forms on his face.

A small one, but still a smile.

"I'll keep that request in mind. But for now, what has you so distressed?"

"Oh you're in for a long story."

15 missed calls, 5 shots and the story of 'how I ended up at the mystic grill in the middle of the night' later, I found myself a little teeny tiny bit tipsy.

"And I've always wondered if dog actors know that they're actors. Like how do they know when to act?" I whisper, leaning in to make sure nobody could hear what I was telling Klaus.

He only listened intently, obviously amused by my deep thought.

"If it comforts you, I don't believe they understand what acting is, sweetheart." He whispers back, making my mouth form an "o".

"makes sense..." I mutter, feeling stupid about the though and leaning back in my seat. My legs had been sprawled across Klaus's lap which was pretty comfy. I just didn't remember putting them there.

Oh well.

"Do you guys have chocolate milk?" I say, catching the attention of the bartender who had been wiping down the bar. He only looks up at me in annoyance.

"No. But we do close in 10 minutes."  He says making me look down at my phone in shock.

It was ten minutes to midnight. I look back to Klaus, who had been watching the encounter.

"My curfew was like 2 hours ago." I say, my mouth agape.

"Well then we better get you home, yes?" He says, a slight smirk on his face.
