Maddie couldn't help but think about the evening she had with Louis.

The ball alone was amazing, an experience she would never forget. Many other royals and high class people were in attendance. People even richer than the Upper East Side Socialites.

It was all around elegant, whereas, parties on the upper east side always had someone causing problems and acting trashy. No this ball was strictly dancing and conversing. The only alcohol served was champagne and barely anyone had more than a glass or two.

Maddie and Louis danced all night under the big chandelier where Louis had confessed he admired her dearly. He was even bold enough to ask for a second date and proposed the two attend another event together, this time in Monaco.

He wanted to introduce Maddie to his friends and colleagues and vice versa.

This was quite the fairytale for Maddie and she couldn't help but relish in it. Dreaming about it instead of waking up. That was until Maddie's mother walked in, interrupting her beautiful thoughts.

"So how was it?" Genevieve asked sitting on the edge of her bed. Maddie propped herself up slipping her sleeping mask off her face and placing it on the nightstand next to her.

"It was great. Everything I expected a ball to be! Plus Louis was extremely nice" Maddie said.

"Ah Sophia has called me to let me know Louis had a great time"

"He even invited me to the next event in Monaco to attend with him... as his date" Maddie revealed.

"You know he's single and looking for the next princess of Monaco" her mother said winking at her.

"That's good news" Maddie said hesitantly

"But" her mother asked with a raised eyebrow.

"But, I don't know. Am I ready for this whole royal thing?" Maddie said conflicted.

"Why aren't you? Has the training not been enough?" Maddie's mom asked confused.

"No training has been more than helpful. I just forgot that it would lead to marrying another royal" Maddie said while twiddling with her thumbs.

She could hear her mother sigh at her response.

Genevieve climbed onto the bed next to Maddie. She placed Maddie's head on her shoulder while stroking her long red hair.

"It's that boy back in the states isn't it?" She asked. Maddie didn't respond. The silence provided Genevieve with the answer.

"I know how you feel. I felt the same conflicting feeling when I was with your father. My parents didn't give me that choice I resented them for it for the longest time. I don't want you to feel that way towards me. You'll know Madeline what feels like the right choice......For now, go home, spend some time with your dad, finish your semester and see what you want your future to be. Coronation can be pushed off until the New Year... if you're ready then" her mother said with a smile.

Maddie couldn't help but feel guilty. She wanted this, a new life style, an escape from her old reality but something, more like someone was holding her back.

She had to know if she could live without him in New York or was her only escape from him here? Maddie could only answer this if she left and she knew she needed this answer.

"Start packing. I'll take care of the flight" her mother said patting her leg before getting off the bed and exiting the bedroom.

Maddie slid under the covers and huffed out an air of frustration.

After she got ready for the day Maddie began to pack up all her of belongings and things she had brought with her along with things she had bought here in France over the course of her summer.

All of her belongings barely fit within the three suitcases she had originally brought. However, after sitting and smushing the tops closes Maddie was done packing. She headed around the house trying to find her mother so she could spend the remaining time she had in France with her.

"The plane was booked and is departing at 8pm. The driver will leave around 6 for the airport" her mother said sipping on her tea as Maddie entered the formal living room.

"Thank you" Maddie said softly. She still felt guilty for leaving her mother.

"Madeline, just know there is always a place for you here, coronation or not"

Maddie smiled

JFK Airport the following day

Spotted: Our royal princess Madeline Rose standing at the international terminal at JFK. What happened M? Weren't cut out for the royal life?

Maddie shrugged at the gossip girl post. Gossip girl wasn't going to distract or bring Maddie down.

She knew she needed to come and see if she was meant to live the posh NY lifestyle or trade in the Coffee in Central Park for diamonds and ball gowns.

She hailed a cab outside and headed to her dad's hoping he would welcome her back with a hug.
