52 • Silence Chaos

Flashbacks continued-

As the engagement day was near. They had planned to do shopping for everyone. After they were done, Kartik took Naira with him for a long drive and others went back home.

K "Finally jaan chuti unse." He said before starting the car.

N "Kartik, what are you saying?"

K "Toh aur kya kahu. Humesha kabab mein haddi banne ajate hai. Abhi dekho kaise humare saath aane ke liye zidh kar rahe the."

N "Tum bhi na. Acha woh sab chodo aur driving pe concentrate karo."

K "Arey wah! Maine itni mehnat ki taki koi hume disturb na kare. Aur tum? Kitni unromantic hona tum!" He complained like a kid.

N "Tumhe aur koi kaam nahi hai romance ke alawa? Romance aur yaha?"

K "Of course! Let me show you." He said smirking and stopped the car abruptly.

N "Kartik! main samajh gayi. Please yaha se chalo." She said looking away. He was so unserios sometimes.

K "Okay!" He laughed.

N "Kartik, mujhe kuch baat karni thi tumse."

K "Hmm, tell me nah."

N "Can we invite Sahil for our.. engagement?" She stammered fearful of his reaction. He might not like it.

Kartik gave her a look but kept silent as he was driving at that moment. She was just waiting for his reply.

He parked the car in the side to have a word with her. Because she was getting impatient for his answer.

N "I am sorry." He cupped her face lovingly.

K "Why are you saying sorry? Agar tum chahti ho toh hum usse zarur bulayenge. Aur vaise bhi Sahil abroad hai. I don't know he will be able to come or not."

N "Hum usse ekbaar baat karke dekhte hai. Aana na ana uski marzi." Kartik nodded.

As per Naira's wish, Kartik called Sahil after they were free. Naira went to a shop to bring something for her.

K "Uncle, actually I was calling Sahil but uska phone nahi lag raha. So I thought to call you."

"That's alright Kartik. I got to know about your engagement. Tumhare papa se baat huyi meri."

K "Hope to see you there."

"I don't know about that. I hope Sahil can make it. Usne mujhe kaha tha usse tumhare yaha jana hai. He told me about a girl too."

K "A girl? Is he in a relationship?"

"I think yes. He said he loves someone named Naira. Usne mujhe picture bhi dikhaya tha."

He was really shocked. So Sahil actually did not change. Keeping a calm tone, he decided to tell him the truth.

K "I am sorry apko koi galat fehmi huyi hogi. Naira is my fiance and she is getting married to me."

"But Sahil said.."

K "I don't know about him. Make him understand Uncle. He should know his limits." He said and cut the call in anger.

K "I knew it. He can't change. Two years were not enough for him to understand Naira is mine. I have to do something."

K "It was a call from office." He lied.

N "Okay. Let's go. I got the ice cream."
