Soulmates

I felt the cold of the marker on my skin as I started to write. I wasn't really sure what to say, but a quick look at the clock that read 12:06 made me question if they would be awake. 

"Hi :)" I wrote on my wrist, and then a little under it "are you awake?"

I looked up at the camera before putting the cap on the marker and smiling.

My eyes widened and I laughed to the camera.

"Did I just send a 'u up?' text to my soulmate? That's embarrassing" I laughed even harder before deciding to finish up the stream.

"Um I think that's gonna be all for tonight. Thank you guys for being here and staying up to celebrate my birthday with me! I love you guys and can't wait to see you again" I wanted to end the live before my soulmate wrote back, if they were even going to.

The girls knew how I felt about it and they started saying their goodbyes as well.

"I know you guys want to see what my soulmate says, but they probably aren't even awake right now. I'll keep you updated" and with that we say our final goodbyes and end the video.

"Check if he's written back!!" Mina yells as we turn to each other.

"Hey we don't know if it's a he or not. We don't enforce heteronormative standards in this household."

"Yeah whatever just see" she rolls her eyes.

I look all over my arm, trying to find any sign of a response. The only writing I see is my own. I'm definitely disappointed, but it is the middle of the night.

The girls got the answer to their question when they saw my frown.

"Hey it's okay, they're probably asleep and you want them to get good rest right?" Irene comforts.

"Yeah you're right, I'm I'm glad they are getting good rest. If they we're still up I'd probably yell at them" I laugh, its true. I'm glad they're asleep.

We all decide that we'll get ready for bed too, it's late and we have a practice tomorrow. We start heading to our bedrooms and I gather my things for a shower.

I climb out of the shower and start drying myself off when something red catches my eye.

"Hi!! Did you just turn 18?"

My heart started beating faster and I felt the excitement in my veins. I squealed like a little girl and ran to my room to get my pajamas on.

By the time I'm fully clothed all of my unnies have made their way to my bed and are waiting expectantly.

"We thought you were being murdered but obviously not so what's up baby scream?"

"They wrote back!!" I tell them, smiling so wide my face hurts.

"Yesssss!! Okay what did they say? Did you respond yet?" Jennie sniffs out the situation.

I quickly explained that I saw the message when I got out of the shower and that's when the high pitched noise erupted from my throat. And no I had not written back yet because I didn't have a marker and was naked.

After a very fast discussion they tell me to talk to them myself, even though I begged them to help me.

So here I was, (barbeque sauce on my- nvm) with the same purple marker and endless questions for the person fated for me.

"Yeah I did, have you been waiting long?" I write on my arm quickly, not wanting to risk them falling asleep.

"3 years" they write back almost immediately.

I smile at the speed of response, and then frowned at the time. I would hate to wait for that long, probably started doubting if I even had a soulmate.

"That must have been rough... But I'm here now :)"

I really am here. They do have a soulmate, and its a pretty dang good one if I do say so myself.

We talked for about two more hours, learning some basic facts about each other. They were in fact a he, and he also lived in South Korea. So our time zones were in sync.

Then we both realized that meant it was after 3am and we both have to get up tomorrow.

We decided to stop talking and get some rest. I fell asleep with a smile on my face and his words in my mind.
